Last week, I did my oil change and I have cut apart my filter (Wix XP): There is no sign of metal in it or maybe too small to be seen in the filter. Strange, because I have a catch can and I can see some little glints in it.
I did 5K with this filter and I was prepared to see a lots of metal in it but nothing. I don't understand....

The truck is running great so...let it be.
If I have a cam and lifters issue, I will definitively cammed my ram with a set from Moe's or Jay.

Your said in the first post you have 86K miles on the truck. Were you using Amsoil all that time? If not what were you using?

I bought the truck at 40k miles so since then it had had nothing but amsoil

I'd suggest you try Seafoam before your next oil change.
https://seafoamsales.com/knowledge-base/how-to-add-sea-foam-motor-treatment-to-crankcase-oil/

Also, go with the Purolator Boss filter made for synthic oil.

Look at the oil before the Seafoam and then after. If the oil is much darker/dirtier after the Seafoam you may have some sludge from the previous owner.

You might consider Redline oil also.

So i ran 2500 miles(the last 100 with seafoam) then changed the oil and sent a sample to blackstone for testing. Also cut apart the filter again and there are still small shavings in the filter but the engine is still running fine6a5983156fcb2bc8f468492f00274321.jpg

If I saw metal in the oil I would get a uoa and change to 5w30. This is more common then people know, nothing to worry about. The fact is everyone os ignorant because they don't do their own oil changes and even those who do don't cut filter open. Good work, make some changes.

Looks like average hemi wear, maybe a tad higher because of low mileage.

I have seen "went to a 5w30" oil warned against as changing the oil weight actually accelerates the metal on metal condition as the non recommended weight has a harder time traveling along to fully reach all areas to lubricate the engine. Even though this seems logically beneficial, the "expert" states it violates manufacturer research as to the optimal oil.

Read the note at the bottom. Even Ma Mopar says 5W-30 is okay to use

You can probably find an aftermarket one with nothing on it but I have never seen one for a 5.7 Hemi with anything but 5W20 on it.

You could also remove the writing on your stock cap with something too.

Find somebody that knows plastics/heat and what they're doing with a 3D printer and have one 3D printed
