Questions about custom order for Rebel 2500 6.4

I'm considering a 2500 6.4. They are nearly impossible to find within 300 miles of where I live (central Oregon), and the few that are on a lot don't have some key features I need.

Questions about a custom order:

1) How long should I expect it to take? The local dealer said it's usually 4-8 weeks, but since the new 2025s are coming soon, it could take longer because Ram will prioritize getting those on the lot. Not sure how much sense that makes, but it's what I was told.

2) Is it possible to negotiate as good of a deal as I could get buying a truck that is already on the lot? Some dealers in the Pacific Northwest, especially Seattle Jeep, are offering Ram trucks at a pretty big discount off of MSRP.

2024 Ram HD Rebel and Power Wagon Add Special Lunar Editions​

I ordered a 2500 Bighorn on Nov 7 2023, it arrived at my dealer on Mar 7 2024, so 4 months for me. You have to realize the 2500's are built in Mexico, and the shipping is what takes time. My truck was shipped in mid January, and took almost 2 months to reach Pennsylvania. It came by ship to Baltimore, and then was trucked to PA from there. As for the deal, I got about the same discount they were offering on their 'in stock" trucks at the time I ordered. They also locked in my trade in price at that time, provided I didn't wreck it or anything.

HD orders currently are indeed... taking like 4-10 weeks. It's wild. That is abnormal! Last year I would have said 3-5 months in the fall, and 4-6 months if we were in the spring. The speed of now has nothing to do with "hurrying up" for 2025s etc. You can only order one model year at a time, they can only build one model year at a time, we're on 2024s still. The speed is simply due to the fact that the rest of the dealership population is not ordering 50-60 vehicles per store per month they're overall a little fat & happy with inventory. Therefore, sold-orders at the moment are going a little quicker.

Right now the way the incentives are you can probably get a slightly better deal instock than on an order, depending on that particular dealer's pool of incentive money. It's normally, for Mark Dodge, the other way around. normally for us, my orders get a better price than instock. Today, instock is better than orders by a few thousand. Essentially our instock HDs over $85k are $16K off, while our orders are 11% off MSRP plus $1K rebate. We do have a heck of a lot of inventory, but rather slim on the gas HDs.
