So i am noticing a lot of you enthusiastic track guys are running 6.1 rods and springs. Just wondering what the benefit to this is?

There is actually some science behind figuring Push Rod length and determining valve spring height and pressure. But the majority of us use almost the same cam setup and I for one just used what has proven to be the parts that work. Hence, 6.1 (exhaust) valve springs and the 6.1 push rods which are a few thousandths longer than 5.7 and they preload the lifters a little deeper. No magic required. The benefits is you don't drop valves because of broken valve springs and the longer push rod fit the cam geometry better and reduces the odds of a "hemi tick". At least this was the reasoning I used.

most of the performance cams are also built around a 6.1 cam core.

Gotta fix my 1st gear Cable issue on the B&M, been two cams since last run 2 years ago and would be nice to see where I am now (Ported TB and UD pulley Gone But have a High Flow Cat, Airiaid MIT, alloys, and Sway Bar). Wow 69 Pages Later, I need another Starting Point.

6.59 was with 3.55's and TQ
Add gears 6.08

Quote from way Back, don't wanna pull the DA card but wish I was at sea Level.

"Ok then some Grade 9 Math".

700 + Meters above sea level (2,300 Ft) @ 1% loss per 100 meters = 7%
6.08 x 7% =.4256
6.08 - .4256 = 5.65 Seconds predicted at Sea Level.

We need some recent and new times posted, I hope to have something soon even if its a crash and Burn 7.1 we'll see what the Mopar Cam can do.

I timed my 2001 Ram 1500 that I just bought, 5.2L, 85k miles, and 0-60 was 12.8 seconds. Hmmmm, something strange going on I guess. Has dual exhaust, but no other mods. THought I should be around 8 at least! WOn't even spin stock tires... :(

The 5.2 I'd imagine is slower than a 4.7 an I wouldn't think a 4.7 would get 8seconds to 0-60

Poor 318 is not a torque engine. It does make for a good short stroke high winder (same stroke as an old school 340 with a smaller bore). Good for lighter cars, not so much heavy trucks. Its just that the 318 was the base model V8 for EVERYTHING since the 50's.

Off brake, onto gas the best I've put down is a 6.64 sprint to 60. Launching at 2100rpm the one time it kinda hooked up I ran a 6 flat. Not sure how accurate the Trinity' s timer is though, that seems way quick for a quad cab.

my dream, supercharger kit for my dodge ram , but here in Brazil everything is very expensive to import parts from usa, taxes and shipping, unfeasible buy expensive pieces in the usa

It means when times get that quick it needs documentation.
Well done, great looking truck.
Show us some time slips.

I've only done a couple shake down passes so far, Data logging for my tuner to make adjustments
She's running Pig Rich right now (10.1 A/F ratio) at WOT and needs to be leaned out to high 11's

So I didn't get in track trim with my 28" DR's yet since adding the blower
Full Weight with spare, tonneau, tools and Heavy 95lbs of Terra Grappler (305/50R20)

1320go_zpsc694d757.jpg

DA ridiculous high 3400+,
I still have not moved my shift points up from stock (5600)
waiting for tune adjustments first, when rpm goes up 200rpm, boost hits nearly 10 psi.

[email protected] so far, I know from past runs I'm 5 tenths quicker on my DR's
I race on 4 of them to use 4-auto (AWD) for traction

My Gallery Photo's here: http://www.ramforum.com/members/blackramhemi-albums-blackramhemi.html

My best NA run was [email protected] with just intake, catback, tune and DR's
at 2500' DA (13.41@102 corrected at Dragtimes)
