After driving truck and you shut off engine I have to wait for an hour before it will crank again. Everything on dash lights like normal but will not turn over at all for at least an hour. Any ideas?

Ok will do I've been leaving it running when I have to make a quick stop for anything but one day someone is gonna steal the dang thing.

If the Battery Load Test shows good ..

I would suggest that the battery itself is Under Sized

Could be a starter... or maybe WIN Module I wonder? Is yours a key or push button start?

I would start by ensuring the battery connections and grounds are seated firmly and clean. Wiggle the relays & fuses associated with the start circuit, and the relays up by the battery cables.

Sounds like your starter solenoid, or bendex. Wouldn't be a bad idea to pull it out and take it to an autozone or advance and have them bench test it.

That was very common on Pontiacs ( I think) back in the 1970's. The exhaust ran right under the starter and caused the armature to bind from heat. Bottom line sounds like a bad starter assuming the battery and cables are good

Yeah, sounds like things are getting older and hot and not operating. Big GM problems back in the day.

Won't start when warm. Definitely sounds like a starter issue. As others have said was really common on older GM engines.

Are you going by the dash temperature gauge ?
What is default engine temperature when your truck is cold ?

Might want to check the crank position sensor. I've had that issue on another vehicle in the past. Exact same scenario. Once the vehicle had been driven for a while and things heated up, the sensor would get hot (engine heat/exhaust heat) and would quit working. Engine would cool off, and it would start right up. We replaced the sensor and the issue went away.

It should be located down on the bottom side of the block, I believe down by the starter.
