Hey there 1996 ram 3500 5.9 diesel
I ordered a new transmission cooler line because mine is leaking. The new one showed up and it has flared ends with threaded fitting on each end. My transmission has quick connections on both ends. I’m sure this is an upgraded line but how do I connect it? I’m guessing that I need to change the fittings on the actual transmission?
Please help
Thanks in advance

You're probably right. Did you buy the new trans line/s off the internet? Did they offer the option to buy 'compatible' transmission-side line adapters when you looked up the line before ordering (often sites offer trans-side connectors)? If so, maybe go back and see if they do offer them ....and buy them. Otherwise, do a search, or match up the trans/line thread and end-type. Probably THIS is something like what you need I'm guessing. Verify thread size. I suspect a guy can find them a LOT cheaper if he were to hunt a little. Like HERE. But I'm just tossing it out...I haven't researched into them or seen your lines.

On the bright side, old quick connects usually get busted up in the process of removing old transmission lines due to rust/dirt/sand debris, or cracked internal O-rings. That's been my experience. So more than likely you'd have ended up buying replacement line connects anyway.

Note: Do a good job cleaning debris around the old fittings with carb or brake cleaner and a wire brush, so the area is good and clean before you cut the old tranny lines & remove the old tranny-side fittings. Keep it clean..
