So, my WIN module took a crap in a big way. Where the key inserts broke and key won't stay in and now this morning I get nothing excpet "damaged key" and nothing else. No lights, fob won't lock/unlock door, nothing. I took it apart and see some burn marks on the circuit board. Odd thing is I can retrieve the PIN, but anything else I try to do doesn't seem to work.

I have a new WIN module on the way, but, not sure where to go in Alpha ODB to program it. I'm using the Windows version on my laptop and all I see seems to be the smart phone versions. Don't want to make matters worse by messing with stuff I shouldn't be messing with.

So I ordered the Dorman 601-082 off Amazon. Got a Genuine Chrysler WIN module instead. Part # 68210151ab. It is the one for the remote start, as it has the antenna connector on it. Interchange shows it is for 2008-2010. Can I use it on my 2011? Or do I need to send it back and get another one?

Really don't feel like being without my truck any longer.

OK, so, I decide to try it anyway, Plugged it in, programmed it with AlphaOBD, then reprogrammed the key fobs. Works like a champ!

Only thing I noticed is the range on my remote lock/unlock seems to be shorter than it was.

Installed the remote start/keyless entry antenna and now the range on my FOB is back to normal.

So, I can confirm that a WIN module for a 2010 w/ remote start will work in a 2011 w/o remote start.

Parts I used
WIN Module - 68210151ab
Remote Start/Keyless Entry Antenna - 5026459AE

Programmed the module and 3 key FOBs with AlphOBD with no issues. Took all of 5 minutes. The whole replacement took maybe 20 minutes total.

It appears that the modules without remote start have the antenna built into the module and the ones for remote start/keyless entry need the external antenna.

Hi Aszumilo,

I have a 2012 Ram 1500 4.7L. I recently noticed that the range on my FOB seems to be diminished for locking/unlocking. I.e. It will not work standing next to the door, but will sometimes work if I point from the front of the vehicle.

I have 2 FOBS with new batteries, and get the same result. Do you know if swapping just the antenna will require any reprogramming of the FOBS? Or is that only required when you replace the WIN module?

When I replaced my WIN, on my 2011, I ordered the Dorman WIN. They sent me an OEN Chrysler WIN for a 2010 Ram with remote start. You can tell if yours has remote start as there will be an antenna connection on the back of the WIN module. I think 2013 and up, the antenna is behind the rear seat, not 100% certain though.

My range was very short, like yours, and had to be right next to the truck to lock/unlock the doors. I ordered the antenna, plugged it in and it required no programming for it or the fobs or WIN module. Plug and play. Should only have to reprogram the FOBs if you replace the WIN module.

Here is the part I ordered. Keyless Entry Antenna - 5026459AE $65.84

I can now lock/unlock the doors at a greater distance than with my original WIN module.

The antenna will either be behind the WIN module or behind the glove box, depending on if it was factory install or dealer install.
You can pull the WIN module and see if yours has the antenna connected to it and then just follow the cable to see where it is mounted.

Since mine did not have the antenna originally, I just tucked it up inside the dash.
