I originally posted this in the electronics and audio section.......

Here's one to ponder,

Came home from work last Wednesday and parked the RAM in the driveway. The wife asks me to run back out and pick up her meds please. No problem.....Go to start the truck and one click and no crank. Sounds like the starting gear is be pushed out and engaging the flex plate but its not turning over. I take the wifes car to the pharmacy.
When I get home I check the voltage....12ishVDC, OK, attach booster and nada. Same thing.
Put the battery on the charger and hits the "Charge Full" point in about 10 minutes. Left it on low current charge all night and tried again the next day after coming home from work and the same result....turn key, one click, engine sounds like it wants to go but won't. I tried to turn the motor over by hand and it did turn.
OK...Its now Thursday. Take the battery to AZ( I got the GOLD battery for this very reason) they check and the battery is a 60% from being on the charger all night. Get the battery swapped out ( Thank you AZ and Duralast GOLD warranty) Install new battery, turn key aaannndddd....same crap. It's getting dark, I'm tired. Ill work on it Friday.
Friday rolls around, I do what I have to do and by 3pm I get to the starter now and pull it. I foolishly wait until 5pm to head back to autozone to swap out the starter. It takes me 40 minute to get to the store that's 10 minutes away normally. (Surprisingly I'm not irate)AZ tells me your starter is still covered under warranty( again, got the GOLD one for this purpose as I've had something similar happen before) However it is not in stock at this location. Manager calls the other location in my town and talks to the manager there. They locate it, put their hands on it, and hold it for me. I thank AZ for the help and head out for the other location( also 10 minutes from the house normally). I get the starter and had to pay a little bit as the part I had was discontinued and the new "upgraded" part was more. Again thank AZ for working with me. Its now dark and I'm now annoyed. I'll tackle it Saturday Morning.

Saturday....Install the new starter, hook up BRAND NEW battery and.....Click....ARE YOU F^&$#&^% KIDDING ME!!!!!
Start checking the TPIM now.....clean, tight connections...check. Pull and re-seat a couple of relays and fuses.
I try the remote start and can see the engine pullys move as the starter engages the flex plate. still no full crank. I get into the cab, turn the ignition on and check my tuner/scanner for any DTCs... none.

For the hell of it I turn the key and the engine roars to life. I try it a few more times to make sure it will start. It does. I try the remote start...It works as well.

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot!!???

Is it possible that these trucks have personalities and they get into moods where they refuse to behave?

It works...for now.

Please feel free to comment.

Win modules are known to get dirty from current and TIPM's are known so have soder joints that both items can start to fail sporadically. It more likely this would be an issue as opposed to your trucking growing a personality. You can give him/her a nice name and see if he/she treats you better?

Name given years ago. I pat the dash and speak nicely to Him all the time. LOL

Sometimes you gotta talk to them, and tell them how much you love them, and give the dash a few loving touches at the same time ;) :Big Laugh:
I had an 81 Camaro. Driving from Vegas to San Diego, it started acting up, running rough, sputtering, etc. Told it if it didn't start running right, I was going to trade it in when I got to San Diego. Problems gone, drove fine the rest of the way.

Really sounds like a poor connection or rubbed through wire someplace. Keep in mind that just because the dash lights up doesn't mean you are getting full power from the battery. The dash, interior lights, etc... require only a fraction of the amount of power to run as compared to starting the engine. Meaning that something like a bad ground could provide plenty of power for the dash lights but not enough for the starter. Do a visual inspection of all of the grounds, wiring going to the starter, and look under the TIPM for any signs of corrosion. Checking the voltage at the starter would have been a good place to start.

WIN Module on a 2012 Ram is the Ignition Switch.

There is nothing on the rear wall, behind the back seat.

Unfortunately, the NEW WIN is not cheap & i believe it requires 2 new FOBs

There are YouTube Videos on cleaning up the contacts inside the WIN box.

You must know how to work with Solder
