Back in August of 2023 I sold my beloved 2018 Sport RCSB and purchased a 2020 F-150 XLT Sport X-Cab, 5.0L. Holy crap on a cracker...was THAT ever a mistake!

Fast forward 8-months and I couldn't stand it any longer. I traded it on my new (to me) 2021 1500 X-cab. I will never forgive myself for selling my shorty because they are extremely difficult to come by. But ever forward. It feels great to be back.

Cheers

Bob

I've considered trading out of my Ram several times; what was bad with the Ford? I need some more horror stories to keep me in line here lol.

@DanAR @ramffml

1. 5.0 developed a rod knock (possibly 2) at 75k
2. Top end oil starvation
3. Cam position sensors continually failing
4. has the crappiest turning radius of any pick-up I have ever driven
Glad to see u back

RE turning radius, yeah my ram is not great there. If it were any worse I’d be doing 3 pt turns leaving my driveway…

Welcome back, shocked you didn't have the infamous oil pumper when it consumes 1 qt of oil every 1500 miles also, they were notorious for cam phaser problems, were the cam position sensors really bad?

IIRC weren't the Duramax's having that oil issue also, where GM even allegedly related it was OK they were consuming oil, lmao, or was that also even the gas motors? Now reading, I see they are having issues on the gas and the new diesels, wow, lol.

I am not sure about fords, thou the I see a new one across the street, and he likes it, but all his others where 250-300km ones.
My Rams will turn way shorter then Chev that I have had anything to do with. Last Ford was in 1980, that was OK , straight 6 5 speed, but using oil at 60km , so back to Dodge/ Ram.

Worse than my Crew Cab with 6'4" bed? I need 1/2 an acre to turn around.
Mine is 6’4 crew as well, how much bigger is the turning radius than 5’7 bed? I had the shorter bed on my 2017 and I don’t recall it being particularly maneuverable either. This week I have a rental Corolla for work. I think it Corolla could turn around inside my Ram bed. It is also getting 41 miles per gallon which I couldn’t get in my ram if it were being towed with the engine off.

I wouldn’t think there is any difference in turning radius between the 6.4 and 5.7 1500 bed for crew cab and quad cab as they are just swapping cabin space for bed room and vice-versa. The frame/chassis is basically the same for both isn’t it?

The solid axle Ram 2500 has a turning radius WAYYYY tighter than the IFS Chevy 2500. I've owned both. First time you make a u-turn in a Chevy, you'll understand.

I own a 2018 Ram Laramie 1500 crew cab with 6’-4” bed and ram boxes, which is rare in a 1500. Anyway my turning radius is great compared to my last truck -1997 Chevy dually crew cab long bed.

The entire extra length (9") is in the wheelbase.

The frame is not the same. The entire extra 9" adds to the wheelbase (all of the extra length is in the wheelbase). It is a HUGE difference. I can tell when I drive my Dad's 2019 Laramie Crew.

I think you are right 5-7 crew v 6-4 quad. The 6-4 crew cab is longer overall than a 5-7 crew cab
