I am currently having A/C issues. The mechanic's computer says the trucks computer is sending the signal to the compressor, the compressor does engage and A/C works when direct wired, but the compressor does not receive power from fuse panel. Yes, the fuse is good. Mechanic says may need to replace computer.

There are other reasons the computer may not command the AC compressor on. From my limited knowledge of AC, the level of charge in the AC system and either/or high side and low side pressures out of range. Be careful not to load up a parts cannon and fire it at the problem. Folks tend to blame what they think they understand while not realizing what they do not know.

If it were me, I would seek a second opinion from a specialist in automotive air conditioning.

Fuse panel? Do you mean TIPM? If so, the TIPM isn't your normal fuse panel, they have solder joints between the fuse or relay and the item, in this case a condenser, which can be another fail point. The truck lives in HI? Last time I visited it was pretty humid as well, and toss in some sea air, and in ten years of use you can see those solder joints fail. So just keep in mind if the PCM replacement doesn't fix it, there can be another explanation. It sounds like the guy knows what he is doing as he wired the ac to test and it comes out roses, that is good news.

Did it fail all at once or sporadic?

i'm curious....how much is diesel in hawaii now?
I'm in Maui and it's around $5.50/Gallon. The Costco here doesn't have it which is unfortunate. Regular unleaded at Costco is $4.25 currently. Mom/pop stations are running around $4.70. I'm back and forth to Oregon frequently and the at times gas is more in Oregon... kind of surprises me. Outside of real estate and restaurants (because of the price of real estate), prices here really aren't as bad as many think.

I guess I won't complain for buying diesel at $3.09/gal now.

Too bad the other 2 vehicles take premium.... $4.12/gal today.

Mahalo to all who replied. My internet server was down due to expired CC and it took over a week to get tech support to turn it back on.

Deisel on Kauai is retail $6.95/gal at the Northshore/Princeville location where I typically fill up. However, I have an Automated Fuel Network account that allows me to fill up at over $1.00+ less. And, for those interested: I bought my truck used from a friend. He kept having "Check Engine" problems due to the DEF system (8 dealer visits...18/mo.) He wanted a new truck and sold to me at 10/yrs old, 44K miles, perfect condition except DEF issue. I bought it and had the DEF removed, installed a 60" muffler. Truck now gets +/- 25 mpg/highway, around 17 in the neighborhood...and the increase in HP is phenomenal.

I am still chasing down the A/C issue. Mechanic said dealer told him TIMP is usually the issue and parts needed are on back order. Now, I am experiencing a 'battery-drain' issue: Good, 2 - 3 years-old batteries, drained when not driven for 12 - 24 hours. I am learning how to navigate around the forum to see if I can learn from other's experience.
