One of the cables coming from the plug heads toward the oil pan and the other goes into the driver side firewall. Pics attached, know what it is?

I also noticed a small hose above the engine that is not connected to anything, know what that is too? (pics attached)

For background: I've been stuck in limp mode with "service electronic throttle control" and "low oil pressure" on my dash. Both appeared simultaneously with a number of other codes when I started the truck two days ago. I replaced the throttle body and accelerator pedal and cleaned the MAF sensor, all of which didn't help - and then I noticed this cable was hanging unplugged. I plugged it back in and the truck starts instantly but still stays in limp mode with the codes (since this started two days ago it would turn for about 5 seconds before starting). I disconnected the battery and am going to reconnect in an hour to hopefully reset the computer.

Thanks for your help!

The error codes I'm getting are:

P2122 Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch 'D' Circuit Low
P0522 Engine Oil Pressure Sensor/Switch 'A' Low
P0335 Crankshaft Position Sensor 'A' Circuit
P0642 Sensor Refernce Voltage 'A' Circuit Low
P018D Fuel Pressure Sensor 'B' Circuit High
U1428 Received Engine Torque Request Signal Stuck
P0520 Engine Oil Pressure Sensor/Switch Circuit Malfunction
P2111 Throttle Actuator Control (TAC) system - actuator stuck open
P1618 Sensor Reference Voltage 1 Erratic
C121C-00 Torque Request Signal Denied
U0401-00 Implausible Data Received From EMC/PCM 'A'

With that many codes,i'd start with load testing the battery.
Buy yourself one of these old school toaster testers,as they're still one of the best battery load testers you can buy, they beat the newer digital testers by a long shot, and at less then 20 bucks it shouldn't bankrupt you.

This hose should be the transmission breather tube
Thank you!

Reconnected the battery after an hour and started it up - no luck. Still the same errors.

The harbor freight near me is out so I'm going to bike to autozone to get this one. Thanks for the advice!

Well, Its not the battery... I just learned how to use a toaster style battery tester from a guy outside O'reilly. I bought a new battery and it measured 11 volts same as my old one. I went in and told the guy I bought it from it was bad and he said its fine you just need to let it run a while. I was skeptical... luckily there was a group of guys working on their cars in the lot. One of the guys with an old F150 checked the new battery with his multimeter and it was 12.5 volts. I tried the new battery in the truck and no improvement. The guy with the old F150 and multimeter helped me trouble shoot and recommended a shop to me that specializes in electrical. And most importantly he showed me how to use the toaster battery tester... you simply connect the cables to read voltage and press the switch to read amps. I was pressing the switch and then looking at the voltage to get 11 volts. So my real voltage on the old battery was 12.5 volts and amps are 800 which is the same as the new battery.

Anyone have a guess what this connector is for?

Based on the dirt it looks like it was unplugged a long time. There's only one wire in it and its a heavy gauge wire with a flange on it, but theres also an o-ring on the connector. It goes from the driver firewall toward the oil pan. The side that goes into the firewall has 4-80 written on it with white marker.

Not sure myself, but it damn sure looks like it goes to that plug ~4" away from it in the first pic, once you clean the crap off of it.

But also likely a cable connection based on your description, not an electrical.

IE like an old throttle cable, or a bicycle brake, not pixies.

I found a tag on the cable its a gearshift control cable

Follow it back,as odds are it's the breather hose for the transmission,if so,it'll just go to a barbed hose fitting on the top of the transmission.

Those pictures: Pretty sure that's the xmission disconnect cable that is connected to the orange pull strap behind the left panel on the dash. The one used for towing and such.

Someone may have disconnected it under the hood so the orange strap won't work. Kinda like an anti-theft measure.
