Beat the dead horse but im at work. 2019 8.4 in a 2018?

I have a chance to get a 2019 ram classic 8.4 uconnect with bezel at work. I have a 2018 with a stock 5.
# 1. The connector looks the same, will it work?

#2 does the 2019 have android auto. That would be the main reason to get it.

I might be wrong but I believe all 8.4 head units from 2018 up have both android and apple capabilities.

It will work and all 2018+ 8.4s have Android Auto and Carplay BUT you will need more parts. It looks like you have a 2018 truck so you may not need a new USB hub in the center console. You will need an 8.4" HVAC Module and the conversion harness which is sold by a forum member and vendor (@Mpgrimm2 ) here:

If your Ram came with a 5" radio ..
You likely would need a minimum of a BEZEL for the 2018 8.4 unit

By my read, you only need two more things, an HVAC module and a 8.4 HVAC harness. What other parts do you think you need?

I guess the radio is from a Gen 5 8.4. I thought those had just a face plate and separate "radio guts" but the one I got looked like mine (Gen4)

Well, the radio works just fine in the truck, just no Android auto. The media hub is working so I can use my music apps I just need to figure out if Im selling the whole thing, Keeping my Kenwood, of getting the android auto interface and use the 8.4 from the 2019.
