Another one post wonder, shows up, posts the same question in two places. Lots try to help, doesn't like answer, never shows up again. Like I have said a few times, I no longer answer questions from most newbies, total waste of time as a simple search will give them all that info already and they're too lazy to even do that. Can't even be bothered to say thanks.
He only has a total of 2 posts- the question he asked in the first post, and a quick response saying his weights aren’t an issue.
Realistically, he doesn’t need to address this thread anymore. His question was directly answered in the first sentence of the second post. The second paragraph of the second post set off the unsolicited payload concerns (as predicted in post 3). OP is clearly not concerned with any of that, only getting the puck system question answered, so he just gets to sit back and watch everyone argue 5th wheel weights amongst themselves.

They might be unsolicited, and OP might have been unconcerned with those, but it's still something that needs to be addressed by whoever is going to be driving that truck with a fifth wheel (or any trailer with that kind of weight) behind it.

Can it be done? Sure. Is it safe? Not really. Will it explode on the first trip? No. And they may never have an issue, depending on how they drive and how far they travel with it. But I'm going to venture to guess that they're probably not a conservative driver that takes their time and pays attention to everything around them, if they aren't concerned about that weight behind them. They're also not too concerned about wear and tear on their vehicle, and most half-ton trucks just aren't built to handle that kind of load anymore, even with air bags and stiffer springs, because now it comes down to the rims and axle bearings. The powers that be, in the quest for ever increasing profit margins, have skimped everywhere they can, and very few things are overbuilt today, unlike years past.

If the OP asked the question that is obvious to almost everyone who actually tows often, then it's safe to say they were unaware of WHY 1/2 tons can't be optioned with the puck system. Warning them of the shortfalls of trying to adapt something that was never designed to be there isn't a bad thing. Sometimes people really don't know.

But I get it... there are plenty of idiots out there who will tell you that a 1/2 ton can tow a 15k lb fifth wheel all day long. It is all of our responsibility to counter those arguments with facts... not to argue, but to hopefully save someone from a really bad day or even worse.

The OP can choose to heed the advice or not.. that part is up to them. But they'll never say that everyone on the forum encouraged a stupid idea that later got them hurt.
