Fellas,
I have a set of Z 36 power stop calipers, rotors and pads. They’re about a year and a half old. Maybe 15,000 miles.
I was surprised how rusted the rotors were! I completely cleaned them up of rust, cleaned out the drilled areas, and the slotted grooves with a cordless drill and different attachments. I also used a smaller wire brush attachment to the drill to clean out the vanes along the outer edge
Then I blew it out with a compressor, and wiped everything with brake clean
Primed it with self etching primer and painted the hubs (inside and out) with VHT high heat caliper paint. This was a lot of work.
By the way, are there any companies out there making really good coated rotors that don’t rust? Obviously, aside from the areas where the brake pads make contact.
