I have a 2016 Eco-Diesel on which I recently had to replace the intake manifold at about 120,000 miles. Apparently the soot etc. from the exhaust gas had gummed up some of the moving parts that control the how much exhaust gas gets recirculated to the intake manifold.
Since that repair, about 6 weeks ago, I've been losing coolant at the rate of about a gallon every 400 miles. It's back in the shop, where they tell me the EGR cooler is leaking and needs to be replaced. It's the same shop the replaced the intake manifold, and they say the leak in the EGR cooler wasn't caused by their work on the intake manifold.
I don't know enough about the internal arrangement of the parts in the engine to decide if they're blowing smoke to cover their asses, or if it likely was just a coincidence that the coolant leak appeared just after the manifold replacement.
Any thoughts?
