Fault Codes

Has anyone cleared fault codes without having to go to the dealer, replace the parts and sensors and disconnect the battery
still can't clear codes. I can't access the ECM with a scanner says it need a special code?

Doesn't sound right. Should be able to plug your scanner into the OBD port and clear codes. Done it that way on my 2014.
