The 2024 Ram 2500 that I picked up a couple of months ago already had the spray-on bed liner when I bought it. It appears to be a good finish, but it won't prevent dents. I also like having something that acts like a cushion to absorb vibrations while driving. My 2004 1500 came with the drop-in bed liner that has held up great after 22 years. I might still get this same one for the 2024 but for now I would rather put the money towards a nice fiberglass cap first.
In the meantime, I figured that a rubber bed mat will be adequate. I bought one for my first new truck 33 years ago for $20 at an auto parts store. Shopping for something as simple as a rubber bed mat wasn't so simple today. Nobody stocks them, some are only for short beds & the other ones I see online you have to be careful of because they don't always tell you how thick they are. One mat that I thought I was going to order was less that 1/8" thick. That's like a placemat for the kitchen table.
So after looking on Craigslist, Marketplace & all over the internet, I finally saw that Tractor Supply carries them. They had Ford & Chevy in the store so I had to order mine. They're made by Trail FX, are 3/8" thick, cost $125.99 & fit perfect. Another plus was that instead of paying for shipping & worrying about whether it was going to end up with one of my neighbors, I had it delivered for free to the local Tractor Supply store & picked it up on my lunch break. If anyone else is looking for a bet mat, hope this helps.
