I'd like to see a race where he can actually get traction. I've got a buddy with a pretty modded Ecoboost, once I finish my mods we'll see how I do. I really wish TCM tuning was out for the 8 speed.

Hes scared to launch in 4wd, what mods does he have and what mods do you have, what gears does he have also

So i have a 2014 Crew Cab 4x4 HEMI with 2K miles... My buddy just bought a 2013 ECO Boost. We raced from a 50 roll and HEMI done work! Pulled him by two trucks and was still pulling when i let out... So is this driver mod issues or is the EcoBoost all hype and no bite??
I would do this a couple of times,...if you come out on top, then the Ram is definitely faster.
Turbos are great until they $hit the bed. Remember, Ford is the same group that ran a turbo on the 4 Cylinder Mustang--and drank the whole sump dry when the bearings frequently failed.
Yes that was the 80's, but if you plan to hold your vehicle for awhile, do you really want another piece of wear and tear subjected technology in your daily driver?
Engines can last forever--not so much little toys. :evillol:
I will agree with that. I thought long and hard about buying an EcoBoost. The '14 Tremor to be exact. For a daily driver,..I don't know how long that would last. (I'm still driving my '05 Ram Daytona with no problems, except for a little rust that's starting to show on the tailgate and bumper.)
I will say though,...those EcoBoost engines are nothing to laugh at when tuned properly with the appropiate mods.

I'd love to see a launch in 4x4. I think he'd probably beat you from the looks of things.

He has an AirRaid, MBRP Cat Back and Livernois Performance 93 Tune. He can broil his 33" Duratracs with 3:55's.

I have a Vararam, Diablo Intune on 93, Moe's 87mm and Borla Muffler. I have the 8 Speed and 3:92's.

I'm pretty certain he is going to beat me. With TCM control I would do A LOT better but my shifts are very padded, at 5600RPM no less and full of TQ management - I'll probably manually shift and try to get my shifts around 6k.

With A boosted launch in 4wd he can still break his 35s loose

Who said the Eco boost was faster than the Hemi?

Ecoboost, 3.73 rear, 6 speed.

Hemi, 3.55 rear, 8 speed.

Both with the same mods I'd argue that the ecoboost is likely faster. The livernois tune is making 104 RWHP / 114 RWTQ.

Peak gains are 69 RWHP and 88 RWTQ. Still very substantial compared to our trucks.

I still love my Hemi, and will always believe my truck will smoke what ever pulls up next to it.

This comment alone should make this thread useless. Who cares if one truck is faster than the other. If you like your truck that's all that matters.

My brother in law has a new F150 EcoBoost...nice truck. I was surprised that with a stock intake, you could actually hear the turbos spool if you listened carefully.

It's pulls hard when he tromps on it, it's pretty nice. I bet with a tune it could scream.

That said...I'd still take my 5.7. A NA V8 is much safer than a boosted V6/4cyl. They look good on paper but I wonder how the longevity will be. The flat fact is, turbos run an engine hard...

I've heard of a lot of issues that people have had with them. I am also concerned with the longevity of a boosted motor, particularly in regard to part throttle boost continuously with a heavy truck.

I've already seen people have problems with the turbo's. Not just with the F-150 but in the Flex and Taurus...

It aint the first turbo'd car in the world, so nothing new here. All cars have issues...

With that said, there one fast SOBs
Friend has a EB Taurus and EB Explorer

Ran 13.128 @ 107.83 with just a tune and CAI in Taurus

and 13.693 @ 102.49 with tune and CAI with the Explorer...

Thee newer EB F150's are detuned from the factory. The 11's and 12's consistently were putting down 315-320 hp and 365-385 ft/lbs stock.

The EB's don't take well to bolt-ons, but the tunes really open the motors up. I had an 11, with a 5* 93 tune only it was a fast truck. Needed good rubber to hook up.
