from what I googled, it provides a cleaner ground for your system, plus a little more voltage for the system. It reduces flickering when the bass is driving hard. Am I right? trying to get educated, too

Got mine done this weekend.

Some quick pics and moar to follow at a later date.

Made my connections just like RAMITINER’s video.

Don’t have much experience/feedback to offer yet. Got it done Sunday evening and haven’t driven it since

I thought we had to do the engine block ground not the alternator ground?

Thanks for the write up. I've needed to do this for awhile due to my sound system. Especially since I put the ATI pulley in. Looks like I'll be doing this when I swap out my water pump.

To buy the kit with 0 gauge wire is expensive... even more so with OFC wire which I gotta tell ya, doesn't seem to make that much of a difference at that gauge anyway. seen them well over a hundred bucks and you're still going to have to put some connectors in yourself as they are universal sets and different vehicles require different length wires.

I just picked up 10ft red and 10ft black OFC 0 gauge for $56 off Amazon. Not too bad.

Finished up my big three upgrade last night. Even did battery to fuse box for ***** and giggles since I had enough supplies. Bolt cutters work perfect to cut 0 gauge and crimp.

Hate to say on my short test drive, I didn't notice any difference in sound quality and still had the same slight dimming. :(

Can you post a pic of your connection from battery to fuse box please? Thanks

I am in the process of this upgrade and I noticed that you have two wires coming from the post on the fuse link likes like 0 gauge to the fuse box and the other goes to the alternator I am thinking is that correct.

I always cut my cable with a cutoff wheel. Best way to do it as it doesn’t pull on the wire and deform it. Don’t crimp. Use a MAP gas and solider with solder terminals and do it right. Doesn’t get cheaper than that.

A specialty vehicle company I used to work for does both. They drill a hole in a crimp connector, crimp it to the cable, then hit it with solder. That's what I still do. I have this same cable crimper but instead of smacking it with a hammer, I just stick it in my handy dandy Harbor Freight 10-ton press!

I did my Big 3 kit with 1/0 welding cable. Have I noticed any difference at all? Nope.

The only difference in welding cable and these high-end "audio" cables is the insulation thickness. The thicker the insulation the cooler it looks and the "better" the audio sounds. Just ask anyone with 14 speakers in their truck! LOL

1/0 is 1/0 is 1/0... But you can't explain that to some people...

In my '98 RAM I had a lot of "static" in the AM radio and in my 2-way and Amateur Radios... Did the Big 3, helped some. After talking to another HAM radio operator, I bought some 8" long tinned braided copper straps and bonded the doors to the body, body to the frame in a couple of places, the tailgate to the bed, bed to body, bed to frame, etc... Just basically bonded all the separate "parts" of the body together and to the frame. NO more static at all...

Doesn't really help with DC grounding but if you're having noisy radio problems, ya may want to look into this.

What is confusing in the video below is that the alternator's ground goes straight to the chassis, instead of to the engine block. (In this video)[/QUOTE]

Is that okay to do?

If you wanted to make this a big 4 upgrade, where would the alternator's ground go to? (Alternator's ground to Battery) or is that not okay to do?
