I’m at the end of my rope the these new Eibach Pro front lift springs! Can’t find part to fit the small cup on these!

Fellas,

I’ve got the Eibach Pro lift kit for my ‘15 truck. Bought them from Nick.

The rear shocks and lift springs were no problem.

I ordered two lower spring “seat/isolators” from a Mopar supplier online. According to the VIN number they should fit my truck.

Currently these springs (not compressed) have a wider end at the top. I got the KYB mount kit for the top. Everything sits in the top of the spring perfectly.

But the bottom end of the spring is narrow. I’m not sure when the spring gets compressed if that bottom part opens up? Because currently the bottom “seat/isolator” does not fit on the end of the spring

These Eibach pro struts have an adjustment snap ring for different height positions. I currently have it on the lowest setting. Above the snap ring is a small metal cup. These isolators that I bought are too wide and won’t fit that metal cup. So obviously there must be another part which sits inside the small metal cup, and then supports the bottom of the lower spring “seat/isolator”.

I’m sick to my stomach looking at diagrams because nothing makes sense. Everything on a Mopar website pertains to the original struts.

I’ve called the people at Eibach. They’re useless!!! Why sell struts for A Ram truck when you don’t sell an adapter which fits over the small metal cup. Then the the lower spring “seat/isolator” should fit over that?

And Nick hasn’t been any help either!!!

I got rid of the original struts because they had 160,000 miles on them and most of that was up in the rust belt.

If I had known, I was gonna have such nightmares with this, I would’ve bought a Bilstein package!!! I had them in my 2008 ram 1500. It was easy.

Does anyone have any idea of what part number fits over that small metal cup on these Eibach pro struts? This is assuming that when the spring is compressed this lower spring “seat/isolator” will fit inside the coil spring.

But there’s got to be some other part which fits in this tiny little metal cup on these Eibach front struts.

I just sent a scathing email to Eibach USA. I could only attach one photo so I attach the one showing the bottom spring isolator sitting over the bottom mounting fork on the strut.

Looks like Eibach uses a different spring seat thing. Odd that the kit didn't come with one, supposed to reuse the factory one?

I wouldn't bank on KYB parts working with Eibach. Aftermarket companies take factory spec and modify it to fit their goals, one company will modify one way and the next company another. They should all work with OEM replacements but not necessarily a different aftermarket part.

Edit to add: You should specify you have a 1500. I have their pro kit on my 2500 and it took me 5min to figure out why it didn't look the same.

I got this reply from Eibach with this photoIMG_6234.png

This is the photo I got back from Eibach. My truck had 160,000 miles on it. 9 1/2 years of that was up north. Snow, ice, road salt, etc. Everything was rusted, including the struts. When I looked at it, there was nothing worth salvaging. The metal support cup in that photo looks nothing like what I removed from my truck. Nothing looked nearly as clean as that metal support in the photo above.

I had no idea it was going to be such an ordeal to try to find the part to go underneath the spring and fit over the Eibach strut small metal cup?

From looking at diagrams, it was my understanding that that metal cup on the original OEM struts was welded on!

So are we supposed to break the weld? And then reuse that metal piece. It doesn’t make sense.

I’m going to try a scrapyard tomorrow. Hopefully here in Florida I can find something that’s not rusted.

I just ordered a couple of supports made by Bilstein. Apparently they sell spring seats for their struts.

It uses the same groove snap ring system as Eibach.

So I ordered a pair from a supplier selling replacement parts for Bilstein Struts.

In the last 2 to 3 weeks, I’ve seen every video on YouTube. Nick just sent me a video showing a guy using the original mount from his Mopar struts

The freaking thing was rusted!!! so this fool was putting an old rusty part on brand new struts!!!

I told Nick I was not about to reuse something that was rusty on a brand new coil spring, and a brand new strut.

I’m praying these Bilstein lower spring seats work

It would have been the same for Bilstein struts. They don't send you the lower spring perch when you buy the struts, pretty sure it's still that way unless they've changed their ways, you reuse the old one. All the instructions are pretty clear.

As for being rusty, some time with a wire wheel and some spray paint and they'd look pretty decent again. If they were holding your truck up before they'd probably be just find on the new struts.

As for bashing Nick and eibach, Nick has always gone above and beyond whether I've ordered from him or not. And eibach had the information you needed right on their website, AND probably written right in front of you on paper, you just didn't read it. Couple YouTube videos ahead of time probably would have saved some time as well.

I had plan B and plan C.

I had also ordered a couple of lower spring seats made by Bilstein. They arrived today. The photo on the website didn’t show any more details than a picture from directly above. So I wasn’t sure if they would work or not?

They look almost identical to the Mopar OEM lower spring seats/perch I picked up from the scrapyard yesterday. Big difference on a Florida Truck versus up north. They weren’t that bad. I hit them with a wire brush and some sandpaper. Sprayed it with some self etching primer. Now I gave it a couple coats of black semi gloss. They’re baking in the Florida sun.

After all the work I did getting rid of the rust in the front end area, then priming and painting. I didn’t want to put anything old and rusty on new struts. Once I get the truck aligned, I’ll probably continue removing the rust further back. I have that 7 piece CORE 4x4 “Track Series” adjustable rear suspension kit. I may concentrate on rust removal, priming and painting in that area next

I’ll probably coat the truck later in the year with fluid film or something similar.

Maybe a half inch shorter in total height. But identical in size. I believe these may be for the 5100 series Bilstein struts. Because they use almost an identical snap ring groove system to determine the ride height preference. I left them in the package because I’ll probably return them.

Does anyone know offhand what the diameter of the Bilstein struts are? I put a dial caliper on the Eibach struts. These are 2” in diameter.

So obviously, Bilstein can make these replaceable parts. But not Eibach!

I posted the diameter in the other thread you commented on.
And again, Bilstein doesn't ship the 5100s with them, you reuse your old ones.
That was an issue I ran into when I installed some rough country struts and sold my factory ones. I was forced to either bite the bullet and buy loaded Bilsteins (which ended up being a fiasco) or buy used struts.
Ended up buying a set of 5th Gen struts and running them after the Bilsteins I bought sagged out after a few months and the the replacements rode like trash.

However Billstein DOES sell the lower spring seats. It was about $45 for the pair. The website that I bought them from only showed one photo from above. So it wasn’t clear if it was the same type of amount as the OEM. It turns out that it is the same.

And I believe these are for the 5100 series struts. Because they utilize a similar snap ring/groove system (like the Eibach Pro struts).

I was able to pick up a couple oem strut mounts auto salvage yard near Tampa. Those are the ones that I cleaned up, primed and painted. The Bilstein 5100 mounts arrived the next day. I didn’t take them out of the package, but I looked at them closely. They look the same as the OEM mounts.

That’s why I was asking what was the diameter of the Bilstein 5100 struts? I’m assuming it’s about 2 inches (same as the Eibach Pro struts)

I’m going to compress the springs and mount everything tomorrow.

Would someone please explain the orientation of these lower coil spring seats on the Eibach pro struts?

Is the seat supposed to cover that metal ring completely? In the photo one strut has the narrow end of the spring seat since on top of that metal ring. And the other strut, the spring seat is reversed, completely covering that metal ring, and it would be a lower position on the strut body.

I suspect the correct orientation is the strut on the right side of the photo

Would someone give me an idea of which is the correct orientation before I try to mount these tomorrow?

Thanks

You've answered you're own question with a photo you've already posted.... I mean based on the picture you posted, which one do you think is going to keep the snap ring from popping out...
