Just removed front sway bar, can this be welded or not?

Is Tremclad a Canadian product? Many of the links are taking me to Canada based websites. And how many cans did you use on the underside of your truck?
I never thought of it being just a Canuck paint, but it might be. It's a pretty decent quality paint, that seems to have excellent life expectancy.Their semi-gloss black is a very close match to the factory black paint used under the trucks.
It's been alittle over 10 years since i painted the diff,so i don't remember how much paint it took, but i doubt if it took anymore then 1 spray bomb to paint the diff.

I’ve been looking at some older posts about rust prevention.

Several posts have made mention of something called “fluid film”, “krown” and “wool wax”. I may try the fluid film.

Considering the truck is 10 years old, the rust is not that bad. I may put it up on 6 ton jack stands. get under there with a cordless drill and a wire wheel. And treat everything I can get to. I had a friend of mine who used a needle scaler hooked up to his compressor to get rid of rust. Is that a recommended procedure? I have a compressor, but I don’t own that tool yet.

Also, is it safe to clean up the driveshaft and treat that?

That sounds awful. Trying to get all the random geometry while laying on your back does not sound fun. I think there are special soaps for undercarriages, I'd do that with some scrubbing and then add the film. If I were working on one place in particular and it was real rusty, I wouldn't mind hitting that with a wheel and then covering it back up in paint but I wouldn't try to get to everything.

Wouldn't hurt. Certainly a more aggressive tool but if you have a lot of rust.....

Just be careful when cleaning up around the balancing weights. They are welded on but basically just a few tacks. They can fall off and then you will have a vibration.

Are you referring to the driveshaft?

Fluid film, krown and wool wax work great on painted surfaces, but not something you just ground down with a wire wheel.

Clean off the loose rust, then paint them with Tremclad or Rust Oleum paint. Then Rust check, Crown etc.
Are you referring to the rustoleum rust reformer? Or just rustoleum black paint?

I was self-employed for 35 years as a professional wall covering installer in the New York Metro area. My clientele were extremely wealthy. So I had to be specifically clear about anything and everything I was going to do while working. I’m sorry that that carries over into other categories! :)
@Olyier is correct, Dilligaf doesn’t mince words but always has solid advice, told him once I wish he was my neighbor.
I would be hanging out in his garage, trying to learn some of his fabrication skills, from what I’ve seen from his awesome ground up rebuilds of old trucks he makes more parts than he buys.
As far as your posts, they are well written and have all the pertinent details, easy to read.
I go back and see 1/2 of my post’s aren’t clear and not as organized as yours, I get so much help/advice from this forum, I try to input where I can with my limited experience.
You’ll see many members asking for more details when trying to help someone and then some that request not posting one long paragraph that’s part rant with limited details.
IMO your post’s have the perfect balance between the two, looking forward to hearing your thoughts/review of all your suspenion work.

Just got the truck up on 6 ton Jack stands. Having my morning cup of caffeine. When I get this done, I’ll post some photos. I’m hoping to get one side done today or tomorrow.

I also ordered a couple of Dykem permanent markers. To mark the alignment bolts on the lower control arms. I’m not going to remove the lower control arms until I mark the orientation of the bolts. Trying to get close to where everything is right now.

I’m also going to place an order with custom offsets. Waiting a couple more days to pick up the next credit card billing cycle. This whole project is costing a lot of money. ;)

Steel Wool and SOS pads are handy to have if you're cleaning up the under carriage of a truck before painting it

I would absolutely weld that. Just make sure you grind out or dig out as much rust as possible first, then like the other post said, stick weld would probably be best because it has more flux to lift out impurities from dirtier metal. If you only have mig, use ER70-S6, not S2, because the extra silicon of S6 will also do better with dirtier metal.

Por-15 is often used on rusty surfaces to stop rust and give it a nice black finish. It coulr be a good thing of you have areas that you cannt get a grinder into.

I’m not sure but a 2500 4x4 sway bar may work. And probably larger dia. But again not sure on 4th gen.

Just my two cents on the painting rusted parts. If you have never tried it, Rust Reformer from Harbor Freight is awesome. Clean off what you can and then spray with rust reformer and it drys black, then hit it lightly with sand paper and paint over it. The rust is gone..

You can make the 2500's rear swaybar work on a 1500 by fabbing up a couple of flat plates to move the mounting tabs, but the front i don't think can be made to work

So therefore, I have no choice but Mopar? I’m assuming that they have price fixing. That no matter where I buy this from it’s going to be the same price? Does anybody know the correct part number on this front sway bar?

I remember when I ordered the Moog bushings they were 36 mm. And made to fit that front stabilizer bar.

Thanks.
A little late now as you said you ordered a new one and i didnt see that anyone had suggested it (i coulda missed that somewhere)but......did you think to search the salvage yards and take your measurements with you?
I've never messed with mine but I'll take dilligaf and Wildones word that it's not needed with IFS(which I agree) if was in your situation.
And hey,it's your truck and that's the way you want it,I'm totally fine with that also.
