I am posting my experience with this issue just to hopefully help others.

I have a 2014 Ram 2500. I bought it at 40k miles. Since the start the key fob didn’t seem to work well, intermittent lock and unlock not working. Then after a few weeks I would have to use the fob to push the start button to even get it started. Not a big deal because I had a Viper auto start installed and was able to get around fine for 2yrs.

One day after work I went out to start my truck and nothing. It seemed like the battery was completely dead. The truck wasn’t waking up. I tried charging the battery and still nothing. Checked fuses. I ended up throwing a new TIPM at it but that wasn’t it. I had some power to the lights, blinkers, brake lights and dome lights. I then started looking into the RF module. I was able to source one through EBay that came pre-programmed with two new fobs. It was plug and play. The moment I was hooking the battery up after install I knew that was it. It immediately started giving me the door chime and the truck fired right up. I regained all functions of my key fob too including factory auto start.

My worry was if I had it towed to the dealer and went through their diagnosis and repair, I could have easily spent $3000. Not to mention they are backed up here and wait time could be months.

But even with the unnecessary part replacement, I spent $900. I believe the RF module was $500 with expedited shipping. It did take 10 days to get it, but they do have to program it and program the keys as well.

Hope this helps someone out there. I remember when I first was having key fob issues, I came to this forum and was having issues finding similar posts to help me.
