So I've read in many places the limited slip on the Ram 1500's is clutch type. A clutch type limited slip will make both wheels spin the same direction when turned by hand. So I just bought a 2019 1500 Classic and the papers says it's equipped with a 3:21 anti-spin rear. But when I had the rear jacked up I spun a wheel, and the other spun the opposite way, like an open diff.

Now my 2500 has the helical type and I've confirmed this. But it does the same as an open diff, spin one wheel by hand and the other spins reverse.

So I'm wondering if they changed the type of limited slip, even though the book says I have to add the limited slip fluid to the diff.

The service manager replaced mine then found out the no preload
To check LSD you have to meaure between the side gears and if more than 1.66 in it is defective
To me it is stupid but that is the way it is :sorry:

The 1500 doesn't have preload because the traction control provides the same effect (freewheeling wheel>gets brakes applied>crosspin rides up the cam and loads the clutches) - this also means your LSD won't really do anything if you turn off traction control unless you also ride the brakes the old fashioned way.
