I'm going to buy wheels and tires for the Ram. I have heard that running a bigger combo will make the MDS not kick in thus reducing the MPG. I have the 17" wheels with 265 tires and 3:55 rear end. I'm looking to go with 17" rim and 285/70/17 tires, the same OD as the stock 20" set up. I am going to have my truck reflashed for the bigger tires. My question is will my truck act the same way with the reflash in regards to the MDS or am I going to suffer poor MPG?

Not to hijack this thread, but what size will eff it up? I am planning on going to 285/65r20 up from the stock 275/60r20, will that kill the mds? How much bigger can anyone go and still get the amazing mileage that some liars are reporting? (j/k of course) Is it a question of weight or rolling resistance or what?
