Geez, maybe I need to get up under my dash board and see what’s up there. I may need to make a little tin hat to fit over the truck antenna. Or wear myself.

Had the running board been working when I got the car, this might have gone unnoticed for a while, possibly even never found it at all.

The running board's obd connector has the cable attached to it from the side of the pins, not from the back (attached pic), and it's on the side facing the driver, so it poked out from under the dash a bit and looked out of place.

The only reason I put my head under there was because disconnecting and reconnecting the running board to the odb connector did not make it work right away and I decided to check and see if maybe that cable was damaged, or disconnected somewhere else, or whatever.

That's when I saw the red odb connector. I've heard some cars have more than one (don't know if that's really the case), but I did not think they'd be so close together and kept on looking to see what was that I was looking at.

There was one on a 2024 I just purchased. I uninstalled with a minor issue. The ICU or whatever it’s called pulled loose and I can’t find it. It’s the box you have the red cover on. Would you mind telling me where it was located? I assume it was mounted with two sided tape?
This is what I removed and the unit is inoperative but I would like to retrieve the ICU as well. Thanks.

Edit: what turned me on to this was a GuidePoint instruction manual in my paperwork. It invited me to register, get their app and receive a free trial. No thanks.

Mine was just held with zip ties.

With my back in the door sil and facing straight up from below the dash, the cable looked like it was plugged into an OBD2 port way up there.

I cut the zip tie that was hiding the cable and when that came down and out of the way, with a flashlight I could see there was a black box with that OBD2 port on it held up there with another zip tie. Cutting that 2nd zip tie got it loose and it fell out.

If you get under there and poke around enough with a flashlight you should see either the OBD2 port (or the pins it it) or a square box.

Just stick your fingers up there and feel around. You should see/fell some other wire harnesses and metal parts in there and the box with a zip tie around it.

In the above picture, the cable is still attached to it.

The zip tie on the right and above that white label is holding one of the trucks harnesses in place. The one right above and to the left of the white plug is holding the extra OBD2 wires that do not belong there.

Cutting that zip to the left of the white plug allowed the cable to come out and reveal the box up there being held with another zip tie around it.

If yours was installed like mine, after removing that cable, if you shine a flashlight up there you should see the OBD2 port and the metal contacts in it. That connector is part of the tracker.

With the cable out of the way, you should be able to see the port and feel the zip tie holding it in there with your fingers.

Thanks for the information. I was working in the garage after dark. Tomorrow I will pull it out in the driveway and use a good flashlight as well.
