I need a new rack & pinion on my 2014 Ram 1500 (the last 8 digits of the VIN are ES245540). The dealership says the part isn't available until September which means my truck is out of service until then.

Why is there such a long lead time? Is there an incoming recall on the original replacement part? It all seems a bit odd.

A New unit part # 68453598AA should be available within the next 2 weeks

A Reman # R8242957AD does not show to be available until December

There have been many recent delays with vendors that have caused alot of parts to go on backorder. Some of these delays are the repercussions of COV from months ago when alot of suppliers were shut down.

I have no info about a potential recall but would not be given that info either as we are simply a dealership.

Before I go ahead and make a new thread, I thought I'd ask here... Did Mopar and RAM ever deliver the RAM RACK?

I am looking to do something to the bed to make it more useful for my trips outdoors, find myself needing to rack/store/haul more gasoline, bikes and other gears and toys.

My received the steering failure light today while towing a horse trailer in the rain while I was at work today. My I see multiple part # for the steering rack. My last 6 of the VIN is 284521. Which part would be the right one?
