2022 Ram 2500 Big Horn, just swapped out a straight through muffler for a quieter one (similar to a stock muffler) Now truck acts like it is stuttering when I step on it a little at certain speeds, similar to bad gas. All the shop did was cut out old muffler and put in new one. No engine lights on dash.

Are you sure your not hearing it drone due to the new muffler? what type of muffler did they use? does it have factory resonators? I would also scan it for codes or just take it back to whoever did the work.

There is really no drone, the muffler before had too much cabin drone. Not sure about resonators. Yes I am going to have dealer look at it since I have a couple recalls. Just don’t understand the hesitations

Was this truck used when you came to it? Possible it was tuned for the old setup?

No this is more of a hesitation with transmission a jumpy feeling. Like something is preventing it from going? It’s not a smooth transition from gears. Again no engine lights. This was muffler shops version of a stock muffler transition from straight through. They said sound might be a hair above a factory muffler. Which has been true. Except at certain points when I step on the gas it gets jumpy like something is preventing it to switch gears smoothly, however once it gets up to a good speed I.e. 75 mph no issues, it’s when I might slow down a bit and then step on it to get back to original speed

Could it possibly be transitioning in and out of MDS mode? Don't judge it by the ECO light because that basically means nothing.

Change it to select gear manual mode via the steering wheel buttons and see if it stops.

I know mine makes a stumbling noise when transitioning that I did not hear / experience when the stock muffler was on there. New muffler "enhanced" the noise.

The change might be enough that it's time to initiate a transmission quick relearn and/or reset the adaptive values. Do you have AlfaOBD?

A couple months ago, I did a muffler delete (kept the resonator) on my '15 SLT 5.7 single exhaust.

At slower speeds (approx. 20 - 35 mph), when I go to accelerate just a little, I can hear and feel the weird rumble from being in 4 cylinder mode.

When it does this, if I use the gear - button, it instantly smoothes out.

If I'm cruising at highway speed, it is not or barely noticeable.

I never heard the weird rumble before the muffler delete, just felt the slight hesitation when applying the gas.

You don't have enough back pressure, just Google it there are a few fixes.

So most of your issues are at low rpm?

Try driving with tow haul button, does that help even a little?

It’s got a Hemi in it

Back pressure is not a necessity.

What OP does need is proper exhaust velocity. Unless he’s got Honda fart cans going, that’s not likely an issue.

You don't need back pressure unless... you have to much flow, which is most likely his issue. Bad choice of wording, this I admit. You add baffling which is increasing back pressure and restriction. His third post suggests what he has is a low rpm issue after an exhaust install, in his own words cruising at higher rpm like 75mph it is totally fine. he needs baffling of some type would be my move.

Well i took it to the dealer where truck was ordered from. There are no check engine lights. However dealer says they can recreate problem every time. They say it needs new transmission. Fighting with Chrysler over warranty coverage due to no error code to give Chrysler.

Did they open a star case? It's a bit ridiculous when they get stuck on their process but it can be worked through (as their aren't sensors onboard tripping, they'll need to depend on the Mark 1 Eyeball and Earhole sensor package at the dealership)

They just reached out and said new transmission is covered by Chrysler, but since it’s over 3 years I have to cover cooling box and transmission line?
