I have a 2018 Ram 1500 Crew Short 4x4 pickup with the "Ram Box" option. It's out of warranty.

Recently my fob stopped being able to lock or unlock my left Ram Box lid. You can still hear and feel the solenoid "click", the same as the right Ram Box lid. All of the locks work fine except the left rambox.

The emergency key in the fob locks and unlocks that lock - no problem.

This leads me to conclude there is a physical/mechanical failure between the solenoid and the lock for that left lid.

Any advice about how to proceed? My nearest dealer is a 2-hour round trip, and I'd probably have to leave it - so I'm hoping to avoid that.

Maybe a locksmith? An auto collision repair shop? A local auto repair place?

I think your correct on your assumption .Its likely the lock actuator not fully unlocking/locking.You said you can hear it clicking ,so it likely is an adjustment that a body shop can deal with.Any mechanic could do the same but bodyshops deal with that stuff everyday and charge a slightly lower shop rate.I saw the same thing happen on a brand new Pacifica. The rear hatch could not be locked with the key fob since new, even though you could hear the door lock actuator working. On that case it started working properly on it's own ( locking properly) , a few months later.Just a minor Gremlin I am sure.

Also the left, on a 2014. Don't need the secure space, so haven't fooled around with it. Wasn't there some kind of physical "kid protector" linkage that could disable the lock? Just a fragment of recollection from earlier lookups.

Thanks, man. Sounds like great advice - I'll check in with my local bodyshop.

There's little white plastic retainer for the lock actuator that breaks. Super cheap and easy to fix. I'll see if I can find the part number but in the meantime take the cover off from inside the lid and check it.
