Thinking about going from 20" wheels down to 18". Any concerns with this??

SO I need tires before I can get a sticker this month. Well really I only need 1 tire. I told myself when I got new tires I'd get some new wheels as well for this truck will become my sons in a few years. I like the smaller wheel, taller side wall look but I don't want to compromise my towing capabilities. Tire choice will be either the BFG All Terrain like I have now or Nitto Ridge Grapplers. Any fitment issues? I wouldn't think so. Tire size would be a 34" or so 11" wide. Thats what I have now, not exactly sure 285 75 20 maybe. Opinions wanted.... Get the 18's or stick with the 20's ?? Thanks

IMHO, 18" wheels look way better. I'm old though so I'm used to the tall sidewall look. My K-5 Blazer had **** Cepek's 36x15/R15. They are a little bouncier but you're only going down to 18", not 15".
I see no issues. You'll have clearance for your brakes. My '17 2500 Tradesman comes stock with 17's. I opted for the wider 18" factory wheel.

Yeah these trucks are designed with the intent of having 17" wheels, so you won't have a problem with hitting the brake calipers. Just make sure you get the right offset so you don't rub.

Highly doubt you'll impact your towing abilities much if at all. If I recall, having a smaller rim = cheaper prices on tires too...

I went from factory 20 to 18 when I leveled it and put the 35's on. No issues at when towing. Ride is better too.

I was thinking about doing the same thing on my 2018 2500. My 2016 2500 came with 18s, so I know they will fit fine. Tires are a good bit cheaper as well.

I guess I'm an old codger too. I'm one of those guys that like more tire than wheel.

18"s will be fine.
I wonder about getting wheels for your son. Will he like what you bought or will he want new wheels/tires? Perhaps involve him in the decision now?

Pay attention to wheel and tire weight when choosing a new setup. It’s the rotating mass the effects braking, acceleration, and handling.
