Hey guys, with all the links posted in the past still can’t seem to find any detailed info.
I have Tipm issues. Tipm seems to be in good shape. Some corrosion on the green plug side tho. When removing noticed wires broken. Now I have three altogether broken. Every time I touch the thjng I’m getting another broken wire. I have reached out everywhere I can think of and cannot find a plug to splice in place so I have a 2012 plug I am exchanging pins in. I want to get this right the first time and not get wires crossed so I’m reaching out to see if anybody has a diagram.
Even a picture of the wires on the back so I know the order!
I hate guessing. And to start tracing wires with a multimeter is a hassle. I will do what’s nessessry

I feel your pain, I'm going through the same thing with my 2015 Ram 1500 Hemi, no rotary shifter or 4wd power. My Connector looks about like yours! Maybe this info can help you out, supposed to be the same from 2013-2016.

That is depressing that this is happening on a 2013-15. You can bet this is going to be a major rust belt problem going forward.

I wonder if a shot of fluid film on the underside of the TIPM from time to time would help keep the green crusties away.

Get a connector pin removal tool (kit), find the removal tool which works best for your connector, and see if you can back out the corroded connector pin or pins. Replace them, or soak the old pins in phosphate (to remove the corrosion). Then, using great care, open up the metal crimp portion around the old wire (with a razor knife etc) and re-splice in your new wire. Done. Or you could solder to the old connector if need be. Not sure why you'd need a new connector unless you broke the plastic. You might be able to buy a small pack of original style brass connectors off ebay or possibly from Chrysler.

Get one of these to make pro-looking automotive-style crimps:

Jeep walker, I have been removing the pins with a small Allen key I have flattened out, works good. As for repairing the pins, lol, I removed a pin with the wire already broken, it was actually disintegrated. As in nothing left. Full of white corrosion. The tabs that pinch the wire weren’t even there lol. I did solder one on last week but it still isn’t right in my mind and is only a temp fix. As stated above. I have found a 2012 ram plug, which has the same pins. I’ll just swap out all the bad ones. It’s just I have multiple broken wires out of the plug at the same time and wanted to be sure I’m pinning them back in the same spot. The actual plastic plug is still in good shape.

As for the rest of it I used do electric grease on a q tip and put I little bit on every pin coming from the Tipm.

I'm wondering if this could be wise preventative maintenance thing for Ram owners. Dab some dielectric grease at the base of every pin for the TIPM connectors. It might prevent salt spray from wicking up the wires and into the pins.

Your corrosion is much worse than I was thinking. I wonder if you could buy a whole connector cut off a salvaged truck harness. Then you'd have plenty of spares. Like I say, the parts dept might sell them too.

Or, if you can get a 'good' one out of your harness and match it up to one here (or call the Chrysler parts guy)

Yes but for most it’s probably to late. I have it fixed for now I think. All my accessories inside are back on with power.
Spliced the pins with wires into my harness. Soldered and heat shrink.

I’ve tried every salvage yard I could find. I had no luck. I found one Tipm on eBay with the connectors still on the bottom. They just cut the harness and removed the box. Canadian dollar gone to ****, plus border fees. The $299 American came to $600+ Canadian lol. I will keep looking because I think I’ll have to revisit this problem sometime in the future if I plan on keeping this truck. Which I do

Good to hear you got it. Excellent work!

Could you imagine trying to find a shop to fix something like this? I know most in my area would turn the job down or would want to replace entire wiring harnesses.

Other than some of the rock stars like the South Main Auto channel or Pine Hollow Diagnostics on youtube, those guys are like gold.

Yes I never even asked around for somebody to quote it lol. Wasn’t worth the phone call. Most shops would’ve told me I needed a new Tipm. Would’ve bought that and replaced it then still have the same issues. It’s a headache but I believe in figuring these things out then it’s easier the next time. This was a first for me for pinning a harness lol.

Oh guaranteed that's what most would start the quote with. Then if/when they discovered the corrosion and broken wires to the connector. They'd tell you to take it to a dealer. I couldn't imagine that..

"....and sir, you need a whole new wire harness. But we have to remove the entire interior and the dash to change it. Do you have another vehicle to drive in the mean time?" [Dealer]
