You're most welcome.

If you're able to connect to your phone with CarPlay, the USB connection is working correctly.
AFAIK, the 2018 Uconnect isn't wireless, and likely, only one of the USB ports will function for data.

Unless your truck/Uconnect radio is a higher trim level than my '21 Warlock.

Is the 'HERE' in your post above supposed to be a link? I can't see it.
You can just paste the link anywhere.

I don't know if FCA or Uconnect ever provide refunds, if that's where the stick came from.
I would try anyway.

The HERE I was referencing is the company who handles map updates. It’s not the auto manufacturer. The company is called “HERE Technologies.”

Aha, I'm not familiar with this group. Thanks.

I've only heard of the following url for checking Uconnect update status.

The center console is a folding seat, not a full floor console.

Ok, the USB ports are definitely powered although they still won't read USB drive. I plugged iphone via lightning cable into USB1 (nearest to driver side) in the center console and up popped Carplay when I hit the Uconnect app on the truck screen.

I'm just going to ask HERE (Uconnect) for a refund and/or chalk it up to a stupid tax for ordering the map update. The nearest Dodge dealership wants $250 to install it. Not worth it since I rarely use Navigation on my RAM; it's way easier to just plug my iphone in and use the maps.

Thanks for your help and I appreciate your service to our country. My father passed away in 1999 at age 62 from cancer caused by agent orange exposure after serving in Vietnam War 1968-69. His sacrifice is our gain -- I miss him every day!

Got it, I want you to try to things. One, put the music USB in and lift the seatback to the upright position, see if it changes inputs and/or music can be played when the jumpseat is configured as a seat. The other thing (if the first thing did nothing) is to check under the driver's seat for the wiring harnesses nearest the center transmission hump. Make sure everything is plugged in and if so you can try unplugging and reseating them (or inspect for damage) and/or fiddling with them to see if any change occurs on the radio screen. The harness in the jumpseat has a failure point at the hinge for the seat back, but sometimes it's the under seat harness that is at fault.

Hi SKB, just a quick update. I tried what you suggested with no joy, so I decided to call HERE technologies and ask for my money back. The guy on the line (nice guy!) said, ok, before we start that process, let's try one more thing. He then walked me through it. I plugged the system update stick into the USB port inside the center console (the one nearest the driver seat) and VOILA, the system recognized it. Not sure if I was holding my mouth wrong every other time I tried it or what. He did have me start the truck before doing that, but I had done that as well. Anyway, the system update finished in about 30 minutes after which I had to shut the truck off, open the door, close the door and wait a few minutes. Then it was time to try the map update. Well, I decided I didn't want to run the ecodiesel for another 30 minutes (already spent $800 on replacing the soot sensor :(), so I just turned it to RUN and inserted the Map update stick. The system responded and it updated in about 25 minutes.

Bottomline: System and map update done! I can say without a shadow of a doubt that I will NEVER do that again as I am planning to sell this truck in the next few months, besides I generally use my Iphone for GPSing locations when I need to.

Thanks again for all y'all who helped out and provided suggestions. Have a great day !

Instead of pulling my hair out, decided to try and post here for a possible answer.

I purchased the Uconnect map update from HERE a few months back. They sent the update which contained two thumbdrives... one for System update and a second thumbdrive with the map update. Instructions are clear about being sure to install the system update cuz failure to do so could screw up the system.

So, I follow the instructions to insert the thumbdrive for system update into a USB port 1. The trick is figuring out WHICH of the three different USB ports is USB 1. There is one below the AC port so I figure it was that one, but there are also two inside the center console. Doesn't seem to matter though as NONE of them cause the "Start Update" dialogue box to appear on the screen. I have watched some Youtube, read some posts in numerous forums, and learned that the USB must be inserted BEFORE the truck is started. Tried that; didn't work. :(

So I call HERE which sells these updates and they were stumped as well, so they sent me replacement thumbdrives. I put it off and put it off and decided to try it again today. Same result -- different day. :(

Anywho, has anyone been able to successfully update their system. Any advice as to how to get the update screen to come up?

Instructions I've been using are below.

Quick Start Guide

Installation Guide

Thanks for reading this post and look forward to hearing if anyone else has had the same issue.

Denise
It’s the one in the center console that has the usb symbol. You just have to wait for a minute until it goes through its cycle
