I've seen the posts about upgrading the stereo in a 4th Gen Ram to the 2018 / newer model of stereo to obtain CarPlay functionality, but has anyone tried any of the MergeScreens products? Specifically this one: https://www.mergescreens.com/produc...id-auto-apple-carplay?variant=42263330357419? I'm not looking to convert my display to the Tesla Style screen, as I think the display that I have is perfectly sufficient. Just trying to get some general thoughts about them before I decide to pull the trigger for myself.

I know of one person who has used a similar product but at that price I'd just be looking for a 2018+ 8.4 radio. You can get really good deals on them and conversely you can sell your old radio to recoup some of the costs.

Thanks for this! I was looking at that one, and the main differentiator seemed to be that the MergeScreens model still supported the touch screen on the stock radio. It doesn't look like the one in that forum post did support the touch screen.

I'll also pile on my previous to say these radios do a horrible job of passive cooling and their location between air ducts makes this more problematic. I'd be reluctant to add more devices into the case that will generate heat. In addition, these devices will be running some flavor of outdated AndroidOS (they spoof versions to report a higher number but they are all older and likely no higher than Android 7), support will be minimal for these after purchase (and return window closes).

Edit: at $100 I'd consider this upgrade.
