I have a 2016 power wagon and Im curious as to what oil temp you were getting pulling your trailer. My coolant temps and trans temp are great but noticed when I pulled a 20ft cargo trailer that probably weighed 5000lbs total and my oil temp got up around 240 on a 65-70 degree day. I didnt feel like the truck was working all that hard and was pulling the trailer with ease in my opinion. I crossed a few small hills but really it was pretty flat road. Im thinking maybe the 35's and thuren level are working the truck harder than I think and wanted to ask someone with the same setup as mine what they are getting. Also I did have a 2015 6.4 that was leveled but on stock size tires and dont ever remember the temp climbing up like that and I towed much heavier loads than this. I know 240 isnt hurting the redline oil I have in it but seems higher that I was expecting.

Sorry so long to reply! I’ve had temps go into the warning range once! Pulling about 12,000lb of a loaded Fury toyhauler! It was up a grade at very slow speeds following a bunch of trucks with trailers into a riding area!

Wheeling in low range locked I’ve approached some temps that made me nervous! That was 30,000miles ago!

At 58,000, so far so good!

No sweat! Thanks for the reply. I’m thinking either it’s due to bigger tires and the Thuren level or a partially blocked oil cooler. Even when I’m cruising on the highway and my rpms are above 2k it will run 224ish until I get the rpms under 2k. That’s completely empty no load behind me. Sorry don’t mean to put this in your build thread. Just curious from another truck with similar setup.

Hmmm,

My first real negative experiences with the PowerWagon!

1: Passenger side exhaust manifold has been “ticking” at me for the last 4500 miles or so!

2: I’ve been feeling a “hum” at about 55-56mph for a the last hundred miles or so! The other day it became a vibration at 40mph or so!

Service appointment 7/22 at Friendly Dodge in Penn Yan, NY!

Just passed 60,000 miles!

To the dealer tomorrow! Exhaust manifold and transmission issues! I’m not excited about time constraints! Exhaust manifolds I’m told 4 days! Transmission issues…not excited!

Whats goin on with the trans!

A couple little things.

1. For the last couple hundred miles, at 55-56mph, I’m feeling a “hum” in the floorboards! Cant hear it, just “feel” it.

2. I live on a high, long grade! Lately it’s been hanging in 2nd up to 6000rpms, randomly! AC on or off! In the pedal or not.

3. I was low about a pint of fluid. A little dark, but didn’t smell burnt.

4. And randomly shift a little “funny”?!?!

Anyhow, dropped it at Friendly DCJ. It’s in for exhaust manifolds. Figured I’d gave filters and fluid done! Normally I’d try it myself, but I don’t have the space to leave it on jackstands in my barn. Also, though tranny fluids is better than gear oil, I really don’t want to smell it in my “home” for a few days.

Btw, notice I’m trying not to yell? ;-)

As of Tuesday 23rd…

Passenger side exhaust manifold needs replacing…warranted.

Rear driveshaft needs replacement! 5-6 days for the part. Waiting to hear if covered by Maxcare Warr.

Fingers crossed!

Trans filters and fluid replacement I’m told $425!

THe drive shaft on my wife's jeep was covered at around 90,000 miles under max care many years ago. Hopefully yours will be too. Pretty crazy that the drive shaft going bad is even a thing. I remember thinking they looked pretty stout.

Great to hear, that’s encouraging.

Why would the driveshaft need replacement? Is it bent or something?

I’m told a u-joint was coming apart!;-p

I feel a little like an idiot. I’ve had driveshafts come apart wheeling. I’ve had them twist in half like 2 Dairy Queen ice cream cones. I’ve heard the chirping of a u-joint ready to fail.

I never got underneath to check u-joints! I had myself it was transmission failure waiting to happen!

Anyhow…driveshaft and cracked exhaust manifold replaced under warrantee! $108.00 total cost!!! Max Care Warrantee took care of the shaft. Factory warrantee covered manifold. I was at 60,625 miles.

Friendly CDJR even washed the truck as part of their service. Excellent communication with Betsy the service writer, and Kenny the service manager.

I highly recommend Friendly CDJR in Penn Yan, NY. Check them out if you’re in the area!!!
