1st gear stutter

Taking off from a stop, 1st gear has a hesitation (stutter). It only does it once and then goes through the gears as it should. If I take off slowly enough it does not do it. Trans fluid is clean and at the proper level. I have had vehicles that slip before but this does not feel the same (though I suppose it could be)...other thoughts?

Additional info, If I have the shifter in 2nd to start it does not have the hesitation like starting in drive.

Is it every single time you start in First or only like the first start/drive of the day?. Reason i ask is because ive noticed with dodge you cant fire it up and immediately throw er into drive always have to give it a min this even goes for the newer trucks.
