I just recently built a 5.7 motor with a comp cams stage 2 cam with .596/.592 lift, long tube headers and a ram air intake. Transmission side I have an Edge racing 3200rpm stall converter, Transgos RFE-7B-HP high pressure kit, Transgos RFE-PP-ODHP for 5 frictions in the overdrive planetary, Transgos Solenoid Switch Valve, and all new clutches. Problem Im having is I’m running 35” tires and a 3.92 gear ratio so it feels slow with the converter I have. Do I switch my ratio to 4.56s? Or go with a smaller converter? And is it normal for the transmission to shift 1-2 smooth but 2-3 hard because of the high pressure kit?

Did you do a quick learn after all the trans work?

If you have the right scanner. Has nothing to do with a shift kit, this is a physical factory procedure. Any time a PCM or TCM (year dependent) is replaced or the trans internals are altered or a new trans is installed, the new clutch values have to be learned by the computer.

Okay I’ll do a quick learn and see if that fixes it. Thank you

All fixed all shifts are short and smooth! Thank you. Any chance you would know how quick I should be off the line? Feels the same speed as before all the work.

I'm assuming that you are using a remote tuner.

Are you using HP Tuners or Diablo for tuning?

Along with the camshaft, long tube headers and cold air intake, did you do any work to the cylinder heads like maybe a valve job, port work, springs, retainers, etc.?

What spark plug are you running?

Did you run the truck on a dyno before the work was performed?

Any logs saved from before the work?

Changing the torque converter to a 3200 stall is going to " feel" like the biggest change in performance. A 3200 stall in an RFE should do quite well if the tune is good.

How does it run from a standing start? Stall it up to 2500rpm and then see how it feels.

Im using a HP tuner

I did get my heads lapped, I got new springs, retainers and chromoly pushrods with proper preload that came with the cam kit I purchased but I have no port work done.

I’m running Iridium plugs part number (LZTR4AIX11)

I did not get it on a dyno before the work but I have 0-60 times of 10 secs through my old Bully dog GT.

Ill be getting it on a dyno in the near future for them to tune it the rest of the way.

I’ll try it to stall it up and take off see how it feels but I figured cause of my 35s it shortens my ratio to 3.70ish and maybe that’s why.

Do you have the HP Tuners Suite on a laptop?

Do you know how to take a log?

I'd like to see what your fuel and timing looks like after the tune.

I said “I” but it’s a shop that’s doing the tuning I think they use Davenport in Calgary Canada to remote to them but not sure. So sadly I dont have access to the logs or files:(
