Today I walked out to my truck from being inside the movie theater and it wouldn’t start. Wouldn’t even try to start or turn over. Everything inside the truck works as far as electronics and HVAC. I hooked up a jumper box to the battery and it fired up. The battery voltage on my HUD read 10v. Unfortunately I had to go straight to work midnights from the theatre and had no time to get the battery tested at a local auto part store. Do you guys think I might just need a new battery? While driving 25 mins to work the battery voltage did read 14v on the HUD. Any help would be appreciated.

How old is your battery?

The average life expectancy in a warm climate is 2 to 3 years.

At 10 volts, it's most likely finished. That 14 volts sounds like a healthy alternator voltage but you may as well have both tested ASAP.

A battery load test and alternator check at most auto parts stores is free.

A battery saver/trickle charger may help until you can test and replace the battery.

Sounds like that battery is going to need replacement. Have yours load tested .
