I bought the BAK Revolver X2 in April 2020 form my new 2019 RAM 1500 Laramie. It has less than 20k miles. I live in the AZ desert. I park it at my house uncovered but my work has an underground garage. I roll it open and close a lot.

When I bought it, it had a small flaw in the vinyl. So BAK sent me a new cover (good on them) that I just now installed. I figured I would see how long the original one would last. We will see how long this one lasts. Looks like one of the felt strips has separated in the box. Those were the first to go on the old one.

Had a hard fold fibermax cover. Loved it but it’s only lasted 2.5 years before leaking and getting rusty. It’s actually the second. Original leaked pretty good around one of the panels and they replaced it for me. Will be going to a gator hr1 hard roll cover like your x2. Hoping it’ll last more than 2.5 years for the price it is. Did you use any kind of conditioner/cleaner on it to help it last longer?

Understandably. However a good cleaner/conditioner should help the material from burning or drying and help it last longer. And I don’t mean armorall. You could probably use vinyl cleaner/conditioner for boats on it whenever you wash the truck. That’s what I’ll end up doing on mine. Anything to help it last longer.

So the second Revolver X2 cover is dead. At 59k miles. This one lasted over 2.5 years and 29k miles but died the same way. The felt delaminated then the vinyl delaminated, then debris got in between the slats and it stops closing.

I don’t think the glue can take the extreme heat of Phoenix.

Not sure what I am going to do. It like it when it works but it’s a bummer it cannot last.

I'm sorry to see that your tonneau cover is breaking down like this. The BAK Revolver X4s Tonneau Cover has been through a redesign that includes several enhancements, such as an improved rubber roll guard on the underside that replaces the felt, it's fully matte black including all of the installation hardware, an added integrated bulkhead seal and improved side rail seals, and an easy-to-use locking mechanism to secure the cover. The X4s is a more robust version of the X2, and it includes a 5-year warranty.

BAK is a RealTruck brand. When your order your Revolver or any other BAK product, you can confidently know that you're dealing directly with the manufacturer. PM me if you would like a pricing quote, shipping times, or to ensure a perfect fit. I'm here to help!

Mine has failed the same way. and of course the X2 isn't made anymore so no replacement...i pulled the vinyl off and cleaned the slats so it still lays flat. I'm going to order a vinyl replacement off amazon and see if that will work.

once the vinyl separates from the slats it's game over on being able to roll it, so i got it back together and am leaving it latched until i get the vinyl.

I haven't read the entire thread but have you tried to use a vinyl protectant spray of some kind? Maybe that will help keep the vinyl together in the sun and heat

The X4s essentially fixed the issues of the X2. If you loved the function of the X2 and want a better version of the X2, then the X4s is the answer
