Love straight 6’s. More reliable, less harmonics, lower rpm torque. Just gonna miss the growl when I start it every day.

I don't get attached to the vehicles I drive. That's not to say there aren't several I really liked, my current ram truck being one of them. These days I usually buy used and pay cash. I buy based on cost, not payment (the dealership salesmen have never been able to understand that).

I just can't justify new price for a truck so my 2017 classic will just have to do for a few years, at least. That will give me plenty of time to see how these new engines work out when I'm ready for another used one. I wouldn't hesitate to go with one of the new turbo 6's. Better than that would be the new ramcharger (I definitely couldn't justify that price new). For me, it's all about dependability, horse power, torque, price, and whether I can make a trip in it without feeling crippled when I get out of the truck, not what particular engine it has in it.
I too, buy based on cost, and pay it off (if I don't buy it outright) as early as possible - usually within 2-3 years max. I would LOVE to buy a brand new car just once for myself, but I'm super pleased with my used RAM which was only a year old when I bought it - at a much better price than I could ever have gotten with a new truck. Paid $40k for her, and a new truck with the same bells/whistles would have been over $80k. A new truck like what I wanted (a Rebel) was going for $90+... Can't justify the monthly payments for brand new if it's gonna cost almost as much as mortgage payment (at the time).

What I'm looking for is people's thoughts on the whole thing - am I right in feeling/believing that RAM has made a bad decision to follow this track? I didn't see anything specifically about this in the forums, but I'm sure you're right that this has been discussed already. What is the general consensus (is it good/bad)? Whatever anyone's thoughts are on this - other than being snide or rude - would be great to hear. If you don't want to deal with my post, or if you feel it's been beat to death - don't read it, and don't bother replying. I've seen 100's of posts here where the answers were already in the forums - but I either try to be helpful or just don't answer - esp. if I see other's have already answered.
This topic HAS been discussed in many different ways on lots of different forums. You asked for peoples' thoughts on it, and they gave their thoughts.

To be totally fair, if you're not going to like the answer(s), don't ask the question.

However, on to what you might consider a more "constructive" answer, RAM isn't the only one doing this. All manufacturers are basically going to be forced to comply with new "green" style regulations, and change their offerings to something more "acceptable" to the supposed experts that decide this sh... er, stuff. So they either adjust their offerings, or can't do business anymore. Loose translation, V8s are going away.

So, on a whim, I headed over to RAM's website to check out trucks (I like to "window shop" occasionally) - and I was sorely disappointed to discover that they're no longer going to produce any V8 trucks... I hate anything that is 6- or 4- cylinder and refuse to buy anything with those type of engines. So, needless to say, unless I go with something used, or they decide to start producing V8s again, I'll never be buying a RAM truck again. That sucks, because they HAD (IMHO) the best trucks on the market. The 2024 TRX is way overpriced as well - and it's going to be the last model with a V8.

That being said, what are your thoughts on this?

Don't let the door kick you in the **** on your way out...............

So, I asked for OPINIONS and COMMENTS - not threats, or A-hole comments. If you can't be nice, don't f-ing say it. Give me your point of view - and explain why I am potentially wrong in MY opinion. Otherwise, you can get lost. Some of you don't know how to be polite, and need a lesson or two. Others of you are "internet warriors" who hide behind your posts and in reality, aren't worth jack. I don't insult anyone here - and I try to provide valuable insight and guidance, to help others, and to ask appropriate questions. I think it's time for an admin to come clean house. I realize not every post is meant to be threatening - but how should I take it when someone says "I should kiss on the end of a wet fist"? Want to fight? Seriously? Grow the f up. I can understand your thought, but the V8 is dying. My local Chevy dealers are offering 1.9% on 72 months for a v8 purchase because No one is buying. CAFE standards and green policies are killing it.

Thanks for providing valuable feedback. Chances are, next time I'm looking for a truck I'll wind up buying either a 2500 (as they apparently still have a V8 option) or getting a used 2024 or earlier 1500 with a V8.
