Some are underwritten by the dealership forcing you to use only them for repairs. This way they get all the money for repairs, upsells, and (maybe) eventually a new vehicle as you see shiny new(er) vehicles on their lot every time you bring your truck in for work.

Many dealerships have 2 different plans, i am NOT referring to the different coverages,
I am referring to which company backs the Plan.

The Preferred Plan is the MOPAR Plan,
when you buy the Plan, you can go to any FCA dealership & IF you brake down far from a dealership, you can call FCA & ask for a waiver to use a local garage.
At times, the vehicle owner has to pay out of pocket after getting the waiver & then when they return to civilization, they apply for reimbursement.
Mopar Plans are good in ALL of North America ! (including Guam and Puerto Rico), & Mexico.

The dealership can sell a 3rd party Plan, that Plan can have restrictions, like if you live in Florida & you break down in Seattle Washington, that 3 party Plan likely will not cover the repairs
