Out the door 46000 USD?! I know that is a good price but that's the scary part. How are we allowing companies to sell us vehicles for that much money? Vehicle costs are out of control these days.

We "allow" it because folks are willing to pay that much and more.

Some of us don't allow or like it but we need a new truck and that's what they cost.

Fair enough. It's just that the inflation is way higher than normal in the last 10 years. I paid less than 30000 USD with a 5 year warranty in 2014 for new. Albeit it's a basic truck quad cab 4x4. You can't get that now. It's just going to be hard to swallow those prices when the time comes again.

You can still get basic classics for that price, have seen some people that have got great deals on those brand new (25-30k)...new body styles I'm not so sure where the realistic floor is.

Alex De nice truck,I had a 2013 Limited and lived it. Getting your oil changed at the dealer is fine. The synthetic bulk oil they use is as good as any you can buy yourself. Some people have a fixation on what a great oil is just like some think there's only one brand of gas to use because it has some kind of miracle formula. On my last four Ram 1500's from a 2009 to a 2015 I put about 130,000 on each one before getting another one every two years. They each went into the dealer at the end of every month for oil change at around 5500 miles and regular service. They never had any issues of any kind. I usually went through three sets of tires on each truck, I traded the 2015 for a new 2019 Laramie Sport 4x4 last January and today I only have 19,000 on it since I'm now retired. And it is also being service at the dealer.

So if I get my oil changes at the Dodge dealership, will I be ok? Or is the recommendation to get my oil changed elsewhere and request the oil/parts you mention above? FWIW, I live in San Diego so cold starts not an issue.
I always have a dealership do all maintenance on my vehicles until the warranty runs out. That way they are on record of doing the work in case there is an issue that should be covered. After warranty the dealer never sees my vehicles again until trade time.

I have a great mechanic for all things I can’t, won’t or don’t want to do myself. So far, I’ve never had any issues with any of my vehicles. The key is regular maintenance, fix what needs fixed as soon as it needs fixed and fix it right regardless of cost and, don’t abuse them. These Rams are pickups not race cars, bulldozers or semis.

My question is why would anyone trade in a '19, I'd be checking into it first!

No, it was $41,700. That's correct. $46.1k out-the-door.

Ok, what am I missing here? You paid 5K more than the sticker price? I realize tax, title, license adds something, but there's more to this that I must be no understanding. Gorgeous truck by the way.

I believe he was in California, so those things just might add up to 5k from what I've heard from some people.

Ok here we go first off the Hemi needs a full synthetic motor oil and a Anti Drain back synthetic valve oil filter I use for winter 0w-20w Redline for these cold starts and 5w-30 Redline for the warmer months, I've been using a (K/N Gold oil filter) P/ N HP 1017 or( SRT) P/N MO 041 its made by Mopar, or( Royal Purple) P/N 20-820
Get with Nick at Gotexhaust.com, he's one of our vendors he will give you a great deal

I started using this when I first got the truck and after 1,000 I dumped it so far so good
He has to follow FCA specs on oil if he wants to keep his warranty valid. And after 1,000 I should hope all is good.
