Truck:2021 Ram Laramie Sport 3500 6.7L. regular bed w/mopar pin box.

We haven't bought a fifth wheel yet. Still looking to trade up from our 2017 Rockwood 2906ws once it sells.

Can't decide between a roll up cover ($ but they don't seem very theft proof) and a retractable($$$).

The 21 Ram is not the long bed (too late we already bought it), so we don't want to pick a cover that could get damaged from a tight turn. We have a lot of camera's on the truck (all the RV options from the factory) and don't want to block the view of the bed.

Amazon reviews are good but I need some recommendations from the field.

I have a Trifecta 2.0 on my 6ft. 04 inch bed. It is a soft trifold, and I use it with a Demco autoslide 18k 5th wheel hitch with my Grand Design 260RD 5'ver. It does not interfere with anything.

I have the factory Ram soft tri-fold. It partially obscures the bed and the very front edge of my B&W slider w/the puck system. However I can still see with the bed camera to get it lined up and hitched up. It doesn't get close to touching unless it's really uneven terrain. It folds out and covers the hitch without touching it when I'm not towing.

Most tri-folds are going to obscure some of the bed, and soft tri-folds are going to be taller than hard tri-folds when folded. Roll-ups or retractables will obscure less of the bed but aren't as 'theft proof,' though an argument can be made that no tonneau cover is truly theft-proof. Even a full fiberglass one can be gotten through if someone REALLY wants in there.

I forget the brand, but I had a soft roll-up years ago on my F350 short bed that was velcro on the sides to interact with the bed rail mounts, had cross supports every 8-10 inches, and had a solid latching bar at the back that had a provision for a lock. Supposedly it was rated to hold 350 lbs or so but I never tried to stack anything that heavy on top of it. It worked well and without a bed camera I was able to twist around in the driver's seat and was able to see the top of my fifth wheel hitch well enough that I could hitch up with no problem.

On my 2022 Ram 3500 srw. We tow a Jayco 5th wheel. Hitch fits under the cover when not towing and I have only gotten a little water infiltration using my pressure washer.
I fold up all but the last panel when towing so the tool box stayed somewhat covered if it rains.
Hope this helps.

I went the the roll and lock retractable cover. Works great, keeps the fifth wheel hitch out of site when needed.
