Vega, from just down the road from me.......

https://www.legacy.com/us/obituaries/hickoryrecord/name/barry-setzer-obituary?id=33025125

But Barry hadn't forgotten racing. And racing will be a long time forgetting Barry. In the early 70s, he ordered a race car to be custom-built by the illustrious chassis builder, John Buttera. Pat Foster, on his way to becoming illustrious, himself, was hired to drive the red and gold Vega to wins all over the country.

'Pat Foster in the Barry Setzer Vega was baddest of the bad,' wrote Tom West. 'Pat and Barry killed 'em.'

"In an interview for the National Hot Rod Association, Barry expressed confidence in his Barr Race Cars team. 'Immediate goals in 1973,' he said, 'are to win everything.' If we read the online 1973 NHRA reportage, that's pretty much what happened.

Barry's custom Vega was quickly becoming a legend in its own time. For three consecutive years, it held the world record for fastest Funny Car. How fast? 227.27 mph.

Pat Foster is quoted as saying 'We went after it seriously on every run, like every run was for the national championship.' "

I had an '81 corvette....happiest day was when i brought it home and the next happiest day is when i sold it. It was a money pit and i took a loss just to get rid of it. I swore i would never again own a corvette.

I had an opportunity to drive a 2021 for about 250 miles to deliver it. Nice looking, but it rode worse than a truck! Every bump or defect in the road was felt and the road noise was terrible. I know it's a sports car, but for the price of them i expected better.

Not to mention how no so great they look. I'm not crazy about the C8 at all, unless it's the Z06 w/Z07 package car.
I'm in love with the C7 car though. I want a C7 ZR1 badly!!!

The C8 is ugly. I do not like one of the models of it. It's not a Corvette plain and simple. They do not drive like a Corvette, and the interior is way to cramped for my liking.

By chance does that book mention CrossTown Motors in Edmonton, they had more pull then even Grand Spaulding did with Head Office, and they offered dyno tuning / built style cars same as most of the US hi-po dealers were offering back in the day, they also sold more Hemi cars then most dealers.
