Interesting my dads had the small mirrors when it was new, but the 3rd owner after my dad put the other big brace mirrors on it. That 75 had to have been some sort of special order. I wonder if it was like a dealerships manager truck? I have heard that they could get special options on their personal vehicles.
I always wondered that to,as the owner of the local Ford dealership had ordered the truck for himself, and drove it for about 3 months, before it went back on the lot as a demostrator. Those were back in the days, when salesmen used to get trucks/cars to drive for a few months, and then they were sold as demostrator models. My truck was one of them, but i knew the salesmen that had drove it for the first couple of months.

They used to do that. I am not exactly sure when that stopped.

You can buy trailer hitches for the Chargers and Challengers, but i think the max allowable tow weight is about 1500 lbs,and they don't reconmend towing with the 6.4 or 6.2 cars, but you can with the 3.6 and 5.7 cars
Thats funny that the 3.6 can tow but the 6.4 and 6.2 can't lol.

Those were some good looking trucks. Did yours have the stained glass rear window? My dads was ducks.
My very first pickup right after I got married in 1990 was a 1979 F100 .
2wd,4bbl, H.O. 302, 3 on the tree and 50K on the odometer. It was a hot rod of a truck and I wish I still had it today...

We saw a few Galaxie 500s at the Iola car show but this was the only '66 7L and it was roped off...

My cousin was really interested in it cause he's restoring one ( burnt orange) in his shop right now.
He plans on having it done by next year's show...

My Dad had a 68 with the Q-code 428 in it,with 3.89 gears it used to eat my Uncles 71 Hemi Charger to 125 mph. Used to p!ss my Uncle off,as the old man was a pretty crafty racer, and he'd step on the brakes at about 120 mph,and tell his brother the race was over,as he knew after about 125 the Hemi would start to reel in the 428,lol.
The car was the same colour as this one,but wasn't a convertible, and didn't have any where near the options this one has.

My dads was originally that combo with a C4 auto and he said it would light the tires up for days. Hence why right after he sold it to a Ford dealership the next owner had to replace the motor. I think his had 15k on it in 82. It had around 50k when he bought it back in 94.

I've had a few 302's including a fairly healthy built one,and i never really considered them to be a tire burner engine especially in a 4400+lb truck, lol. You guys sure you're remembering right, lol

That 302 wasn't available in 79,and there's a whole lot of differance between a 3200 lb car and a 5,000lb truck,lol.
When i turned my old 77 back into more of a gas milege minded street truck,i built a healthy 10:1 302 for it,and even in my light weight (4400lb) shortbox,it was no tire spinner, and that was with a 3200 stall convertor and 3.50 gears.
Memories are great, but they sometimes get a bit distorted with age :waytogo: :Big Laugh:
