USB mem stick overheat

Anyone have a USB connection overheating? I have a mem stick plugged into the USB port in the console for music.
On a recent road trip, i had the music start to get all garbled. I grabbed the stick and it was HOT. unplugged it, waited for it to cool, plugged back in, no more sound issues. I do use one of those little mini sticks, looks more like a mouse dongle.

Mine does get warm, not to the point of affecting music sound.

Yes the little sticks get rather warm. I use them in my laptops for extra storage and notice the same thing.

ok, thanks for feedback..... Im wondering if i should get a longer stick, i hate to so it wont get wacked when i rummage though that section.

I run a 6 inch extension on mine, just for that reason

I have just the little drives, no bigger than a thumb nail. I haven't had any issues so far, but definitely will keep an eye on.

You could always copy the songs onto a larger stick as a test, I have 7 or 8 and could always use another.

@RamDiver yes that would be a great idea... when i get back home i will try that. maybe that Thumb drive has an issue... I drove to mon and dads last weekend, came home sunday and flew out on monday AM... I will try this weekend when i get home.

I also sometimes use a SD card instead of thumb drive

It must be in the USB to SD adapter cable he carries.
