If you do the 885 horse upgrade on a Hellcat, one of the first things they send in the kit is a 180 thermostat to replace the factory 203 t-stat,even my buddies 2018 808 horse Demon had a 203 thermostat in it,and he's running the 840 horse pcm upgrade. After having 2 thermostats fail closed in his 1000 horse Red Eye and 1320,all his late model toys got swapped to thermostat delete plates. Its also crazy to me that Hellcats are driving around at ~208 coolant temps
So you're saying there's a Mopar part number for that 180 thermostat somewhereIf you do the 885 horse upgrade on a Hellcat, one of the first things they send in the kit is a 180 thermostat to replace the factory 203 t-stat,even my buddies 2018 808 horse Demon had a 203 thermostat in it,and he's running the 840 horse pcm upgrade. Not sure how you got a 180 thermostat from the delete plates in that post.So you're saying there's a Mopar part number for that 180 thermostat somewhere

Usually only the Direct Connection dealers can get it.So you're saying there's a Mopar part number for that 180 thermostat somewhere

The part where he said "one of the first things they send in the kit is a 180 thermostat"?Not sure how you got a 180 thermostat from the delete plates in that post.

Well if you clic on the link i just posted, you'll see the Stage 1 kit comes with a 180 thermostatThe part where he said "one of the first things they send in the kit is a 180 thermostat"?
I did, I think crackerjack was confused.Well if you clic on the link i just posted, you'll see the Stage 1 kit comes with a 180 thermostat
Missed it........small phone screen & old eyes......LoLI did, I think crackerjack was confused.
Thats great news, thank you for the update!797 3/4" ID plate is working excellent in my 5.7. 185 degrees steady running 75 mph or less. 75 mph and up, stop and go traffic, it will creep to 190 degrees max. Ambient temps 77 - 100F. This restrictor plate along with Caulk tranny bypass are the best two mods IMO that can be done to the stock setup. Thanks again to those who pointed out these thermostat restrictor plates.
Heres the code set criteria for P0128.Update: Got the first P0128 code the other day. Funny thing, Alfa did not pick up the code, but torque Pro did...cleared it. Coolant still maxes out at 185° F during normal driving below 75 mph. Sustained runs of 80 mph (toll roads) for 30 minutes or longer coolant creeps to 190° F max. I'll clear the code if/when it returns and thinking about installing the smaller ID plate (5/8") and give it a go thru our mild fall/winter/spring season.

A few guys who've got the thermostat rational code have said after clearing it a couple times,it usually doesn't come back.Heres the code set criteria for P0128.
Looks like its looking for 190⁰ to he reached by a predetermined time and if it doesn't reach 190 it sets the code

Same here, I've ran 180s before and never had this code pop. My truck lives outside so like you said IDK if that has anything to do with it.A few guys who've got the thermostat rational code have said after clearing it a couple times,it usually doesn't come back.
I've never had the code pop up in anything i've stuck a 180 in,and that's quite a few vehicles now,so it's very hit or miss on whether you'll get the code or not.
I've started to wonder if it might have anything to do with whether the vehicle is parked outside or inside
There's several cars running around here with thermostat deletes in them, and as far as i've heard none of them have had the code pop up,but all are parked inside, which is when i started to wonder if that had anything to do with keeping the code at bay.Same here, I've ran 180s before and never had this code pop. My truck lives outside so like you said IDK if that has anything to do with it.
But all the 180 tstats I've run hit 190+ on the first opening of the tstat and then settle at 185ish. So mine always hit the magical 190 threshold before dropping below 190
Interesting, its like certain PCM calibrations have different parameters for setting that code than others. You would think something like this that could potentially be tied to emissions would be similar on all calibrations for the same motor.
But yeah, this was my main concern with running the restrictor plates...
