Need help putting transmission back in

Hi Guys! I had to replace the clutch in my 2002 dodge ram 1500 manual. I have lowered the transmission and replaced the clutch but now I can’t get the transmission back in. Is there anyone in the Virginia Beach area willing to help? $$ can be provided

probably be cheaper and faster to tow it to your local tranny shop ! Did you resurface the flywheel !??? put new through out bearing in ? If not you will probably be pulling it out again for chatter , slipping , grabbing or bad bearing ! you should always resurface the flywheel to get out any burn marks and crap from the old clutch and through out bearing since they do a lot of work !

Yes jim. We replaced the flywheel and everything…. the local shops are quoting us a ridiculous price just to help us place the tranny back in….

ok are you using the alignment tool to align the pressure plate when you bolted the clutch up to the flywheel and splines of the output shaft ?
if so it should slip right in !
can you attach some pics of the problem and elaborate a lil more on what is happening!?

You want the alignment toll to slide in effortlessly, try rotating the output shaft as you are jiggling the case, may need to use driveshaft to accomplish this.or rotate the crankshaft from upfront.

The alignment tool should have came with the new clutch, without it you don’t have much of a chance of getting it together.

Alignment tool is MANDATORY!

Edit: Just recalled a memory from 1985 when I worked at a parts house and we had a rack of blister pack plastic alignment tools for just about every domestic trans. Guys would try to return them after use, "It didn't fit." Yeah... good times...

I remember the old 3 & 4 speeds behind a small block Chevy being small enough you could get a buddy to push in the clutch and use the transmission input shaft to line everything up. Impossible with the newer integrated bell housing though.

Used to have my little brother push in the clutch for that last1"-1/2". If you torque it up to draw it in, you warp the clutch plate.

If you don't have the plate lined up , you can't get the transmission to slide in.
Is that the problem?

I hear girls try that after grad, it don't fit bs. I know some one that tried it with a bridesmaid dress, some I have seen ,I can understand it.
guys just brush the dust of clean pants and call it good.
