I bought a new 2019 1500 Tradesman Crew Cab 4WD in June 2020. It's "work truck" for me to use to carry my 2 Doberman Pinschers camping in the southeast National Forests. I didn't even keep the back seat in for years. I have a screw in a front tire and of, course, rather than plug the tire, I'm looking to add a 2 inch (Mopar) or 2.5 inch lift kit to the front and back so I can use larger tires and still get in and out of it in 10 years ( I'm 64 years old now).

The truck has the stock 17-7 wheels with P265-70R17 tires on them and I would like to go to a LT 285 on the same wheels if possible - or different inexpensive wheels. I'm just trying to get a little more ground clearance while looking for trout streams to camp at. I will not be doing any mudding or rock climbing.

I would appreciate opinions on the MOPAR 2 inch lift vs something like Rough Country 2.5 inch lift and thoughts on tire sizes and wheel combos. I've used the search feature and found some info.

Thanks. (I'm not sure what the heck happened to the photo)

Think you need to look at a kit that includes control arms and other components to get geometry straight if going 2 inches or more. And bolt on may not work, possible cutting and or welding may be needed. Best thing is to go to a trusted truck modification shop and let them walk through what you want and how that will affect things.

Hey there, I have a 09 1500 4x4. Bilsteins 5100 frt. set at 2.1. Rear is bilstein shocks w/1in. coil spacer. Tires are 285/70-17 on stock alloy wheels. Did add air-lift bags inside coils for towing. Very happy with end result.

Don’t use the mopar lift, it’s an overpriced puck level with the ram logo on it. Stay away from anything that looks like a puck. Rough country also has a poor reputation.

What you need are bilstein 5100s, easily the most tried and true option for these trucks. If you set them over 2” lift get JBA angle correcting upper control arms.

Tire size, I would definitely go with 285/75r17 over 285/70r17. The 70 is only about a 33” diameter, which will fit your truck stock and starts to look small fast once you start lifting it. The 75 is about an inch larger diameter and no wider.
