Working on a 1989 dodge ram w-250 with 360 and manual transmission. The ecu computer for the truck is shot. Sent for rebuild and told it’s not rebuild able (damaged contacts). That ecu is 4379903. Have looked for months and can’t find a replacement. Saw a thread that suggested that an ecu for that truck from an automatic might work. Since there are probably no computer controls on a manual that year. Does anyone think that might work if I can find it. It’s a 4379899. Both ecu are for TBI. Or would the ecu be looking for inputs from the automatic that are not there and thus malfunction?

The automatic pcm may have a torque convertor lock up signal it will look for. If you find an '89 at a junkyard, pull the torque convertor lock up solenoid and it's wiring. We used to do that on Neon swaps.

The 4379899 and the 4379903 are both unavailable/ obsolete so what can you do with the truck? Are there conversion kits with an aftermarket computer that will run the throttle Body injection and not cause other issues with truck? Can you change the intake manifold and put on a carburetor? And then what comapatibiliy issues would you have?

Just did a google search and found one listed on an online site. Pt 4379903 a^toecmstore.c^^ has it listed, a little pricey but it is listed as in stock.
