I just picked up a Wix 57060XP for my first synthetic oil change soon on my 6.4 Hemi. I was kind of shocked at the small size of the filter compared to my filter that I used on my 5.7 Hemi. Because it's designed for synthetic oil does it make for a smaller filter? I searched on here and many say they run the 57060XP in their 6.4 Hemi so it should be the correct filter. Can you set my mind at ease please. Thanks.

I needed that zip lock bag for my '09 1500 5.7 but I have no problem at all on my '17 2500 6.4. Just that was worth the upgrade to a HD. The OP stated 6.4 so he's not under a 1500. Or am I forgetting something. I take a lot of meds these days. Lol

It is a HD 2500 with the 6.4 Hemi. I was just taken back a little at how small the filter is compared to my old Hemi filter. Thanks.

My 5.7 calls for a small filter but I was able to fit the larger filter in its place.

I used the 20-820 on my 5.7. It’s the older style filter. When the 5.7 switched from power steering to electric assist they swapped to the smaller filter. Pretty sure the SRT filter is the same size as the larger filter. Not sure since the OP has a 6.4 though.

Thanks. Amazon says that filter won't fit my truck with the 6.4. Amazon drives me nuts!

Here’s a large cross reference of wix filters with the 22x1.5 threads. There are several different filters that would bolt up. Watch the gasket sizes, bypass valve settings, ect.FEE61F7E-A4DB-458B-913A-45F55E09C143.png

The bigger filters fit fine. The only reason the filter size changed was for the electronic steering on the 1500 and all Hemi’s take the same filter.

That said I use a OE size Royal Purple 10-48. I don’t run my intervals long enough for it to matter as I barely drive 9000 miles a year. End up changing every 6 months at 4K to 5k.

they come from the factory on the truck and that is what Ram recommends so why not? My dealer and Walmart are about the same price but sometimes more convenient to hit Wally world.

Was looking at maybe going with a wix on next change but mopar oem seems legit. Change my oil every 3 to 5k anyway. 6.4L use oil always having to top it off every 1200 miles it seems. Usually quarter to half a qaurt low

Just looked in here, bought my 2021 2500 with the 6.4 hemi used in January. I changed oil this week and was surprised at the size of the oil filter, too. That's got to be the smallest size per cu in per hp of anything I've seen. I was a commercial fisherman for 40+ years, all diesel, in the boats. This is my 7th truck, two diesel rest gassers, and this filter looks KIA sized, to me. I'll keep looking around. I see the RP 20-280 mentioned, is that still working for anyone ? The filter and the voodoo ( to me ) 0-40 oil are "interesting." Thanks for the info.

One my 5.7, the filter was tiny, so I used the filter from my wife's winter beater...it's got to be twice the size

My 5.7 had the small filter too. I changed mine to a Fram XG2, and it fit with no problems. I have heard that some do have problems with the larger diameter filter.

In fact, I just bought a Fram FE2 for my next change.

You could possibly also use the XG10575 filter, it is the same smaller diameter, but longer length.
