This reminds me of a test mule Ford created right about '90-'92. They took one of these, shortened the wheelbase I wanna say by about 6", then dropped a hot small block in it (can't remember if it was a 302 or 351W), lowered it and set it up to handle. They later let the automotive press have fun with it and apparently that wheelbase change completely changed the nature of the car and I seem to remember them begging Ford to build them that way.

If it was a test mule, it probably had a 351W in it. I am not sure why Ford never put one in a Fox.

'93 Cobra had a 302 with the GT40 heads....that is what they should have put the 351W in. '95 Cobra R got it at least.
But you had to get the rare R. I agree they should done like the lightning and put the 351w in it.

My low mileage 93 5 oh GT 5 speed. It was pushing 500 with the nitrous. That was one mean car. Lift the front wheels off the ground all weekend racing and take it to church on Sunday with the a.c on. Second is my 93 Lightning with a 408. It was NA and I never had it dyno'd. I bet it had 400 hp at least. I sold the Lightning because it was my DD and I had a baby and he couldn't ride safely in the front seat. Made a lot of sacrifices car wise for him. Its hard to believe he will be driving next year.

It was consistent with 10.5 seconds. It would hook and go. I loved the Tremec TKO in it.
That's pretty decent even with Texas's killer below sealevel DA numbers they get alot of the year.
Up here a good day DA wise in the summer is 4500ft,with 5,000+ft not uncommon,i'd kill for some of Texas's -1,000ft DA numbers, lol

Never said anything about Mexico, lol. But Texas is notorious for having killer DA in the winter months, and i'm guessing that 10.5 was done when the DA was probably below sea level, lol

Well its hot 75% of the year so it didn't really matter. It starts getting hot in April/May and sometimes doesn't let go until mid October. I look forward to my birthday in mid October because its always cooler.

Never said it wasn't hot during the summer, lol. All i'm saying is you guys get great DA in the winter months, and i'd lay odds you ran that 10.5 in the cooler months when there's a good chance the DA was below sea level.
If you ran 10.5 at 500 to 1,000ft below sea level,up here at 5,000ft DA you'd be in the mid to low 11's

The cars always run better in the cooler weather. Its been ages since I had that car. My best runs were in the early spring.

That i believe, nobody runs good numbers in the summer, lol.
To put things into perspective a 717 horse Kitty on DR's with a good driver is lucky to run an 11.5 here.
My buddies Super Stock runs 10.90's on 17" slicks, down south the SS's are running low 10's,with some breaking into the 9's,lol

Kitties are heavy. 4400 vs 3200 for a Fox. Thats out of the box. It had a lot of weight reduction. The running joke when talking about racing back in the day was a Foxbody and 3k in mods. Those cars were runners like the cats. I dont know that I have driven something so quick stock or with minimal mods. My Camaro is fast but it feels heavy even only weighing in at 3323.

I am going to T56 swap mine in the near future. I hate an auto... Can it be done in the cats? I know the 8 speed is great, but it would be hella fun to swap it for a Tremec.

Back in my AMC days,i had my little 74 Hornet X down to 2800lbs,with a mild 401 it ran 11.1's all day long, and was one of the best bracket cars i owned, plus it never broke being that light, lol
