changed my front and rear diff oils yesterday!
hemi 8 speed 3.92 gears 115k kms (71500 miles) 3 years very spirited driving with occasional tow/haul. 4x4 mostly in the winter.

front fluid was suprisingly crystal clear. I knew it was going to be in good shape but still it had none of the pale yellow/amber color typically associated with normal new gear oil
replaced with regular Canadian tire synthetic 75w90 that I had in stock

rear fluid was what I was really there for, and again it was less dark than I was expecting. but thats not to say I should have gone longer. in fact in an ideal world I would have changed it before 60k miles but sometimes thats just the way she goes.

rear original fluid was definitely amber almost orange/reddish. smelled like regular used gear oil. very little if any burnt smell. no particles came out with the last of the old fluid after a good 25 minutes of draining. inspected in the fill and drain holes with a flashlight and everything looks great! gears look pristine and no visible varnish or dirt anywhere.
found the magnet is just before the drain plug so cleaned it off the best i could with a very clean rag and finger/screwdriver. normal levels of debris. flushed with a half liter of regular gear oil to get out what i disturbed.

finally the fun part! filled with redline 75w140 (with LS additives already included)
bought 3 liters on sale @32 plus tax each, in Canadian monopoly money so thats a great deal!

takes about 2.5 liters and I still had on hand a half litre of redline 75w140 NS and about 2oz of redline limited slip additive from my 06 ram so I was prepared for anything haha

as expected its great, feels smoother on acceleration and just taking off from a stop normally. the engine seems to propel the truck easier and more fluidly if that makes any sense to anyone :favorites13:

Hard to believe what I am about to say, but it is 100% truthful, for those I chat with my ram has been getting in the 9's, as in high 9's mpg's. I am planning on a tune up soon. Enter today got gas after using Lucas octane boost, this tank I am in high 12's, as in no joke I am a tad above average and got exactly 3mpg's over what I have been getting. I honestly couldn't believe it, still wondering why,
9mpg :O Luckily you live in California with the cheap fuel ;) :console:I think Sweden even have cheaper fuel than you (Swe price is $6.17/gallon)

In so cal there is a huge interstate called I-5, well in nor cal we have 80, same function both have smaller freeways that can carry traffic but these are the 2 main hubs to enter and travel this state. Well something we may have not considered, what to do when Tesla big rig fires. It appears 80 is still shut from a Tesla rig fire 18 hours ago. They have to let it burn out, but nobody knows how long this will take? Makes me want a EV ram?

I doubt the tow truck drivers will be fighting to hook this rig up, lol. No you take it, NoNo you take it. I would but I'm I'll right now, my corns are seriously flared.

An intense lithium battery fire being put out by diesel fire trucks and then being towed away by a diesel tow truck. Somehow this is green?

The truck driver in stephans post nailed it, what if this happened in a city or next to a school? He was carrying a load to Tesla and said he'd never drive a EV rig.

Approaching 82K miles on my 2015 6.4. Have run PUP 0W40 almost exclusively since day 1 and started adding LubeGard the past few oil changes. 5K OCI's. Experiencing my 1st tick at start up some days. Looking at HPL oil in the future. Best for the Hemi tick Premium Plus or Supercar??? Vehicle mainly used for towing. TIA

The wrong kind, yeah - smoke haze is over us today, but not enough to smell or taste. On thick smoke days you can smell and taste, and weak folks have heart attacks. It's really bad.

Send some of that rain to the North West, lol.Saskatchewan in particular,as their burning big time,

I wish with all the smoke blowing down here.
This is just bizarre. Due to snow less winter some of the fires never fully extinguished over winter. Laid there and continued to smolder.
We didn't snowmobile at all last year. No snow anywhere in the upper midwest.
